Motions

7a

Motion in the name of Councillor Alison Gilliland

The North Central Area Committee recognises the importance of sustainable community development across our area but in particular on the Lawrence Lands currently encompassed in the Oscar Traynor Land Initiative for housing development. Recognising the particular physical constraints of this site bounded on the west side by the M1/Port Tunnel, on the northside by the Oscar Traynor Rd and on the south and east sides by well-established residential areas, the North Central Area Committee calls on DCC to lead the development of a fully comprehensive traffic, public transport, cycle and pedestrian infrastructure and connectivity plan for this site and its immediate hinterland (Kilmore West, Woodlawn/Aulden Grange/Santry Court/Larch Hill, Lorcan Estate) and including the site's ability to effectively connect with Northside Shopping Centre and Santry Village. This infrastructure and connectivity plan should seek to to be realisable in conjunction with the timelines for development on the lands in question.

Minutes:

Order: Dave Dinnigan to raise with Hugh McKenna regarding a commitment to a wider Transport Study for the Oscar Traynor Road site.

7b

Motion in the name of Councillor Larry O'Toole

That this committee commends the Parks and Public Domain staff for the excellent work in preparing the Stardust Park and Memorial for the recent annual commemoration.

Minutes:

Order:  Noted.

7c

Motion in the name of Councillor Michael O'Brien

That this area committee supports the campaign to maintain the playschool operating from St Francis of Assisi in Belmayne which as matters stand will not be accommodated in the new permanent school building. We call upon the school authorities to reverse their decision not to include the playschool and call upon Dublin City Council to provide whatever practical assistance they can to help ensure this vital facility survives.

Minutes:

Order:  Agreed.

7d

Motion in the name of Councillor Michael O'Brien

That this area committee notes the gradual progress being made in the provision of a neighbourhood centre in the Greendale area.  We call Dublin City Council to select Clongriffin as the location of the next Community Centre to be built in the North Central Area after Greendale.

Minutes:

Order:  Agreed.

7e

Motion in the name of Councillor Deirdre Heney

That the manager arrange to have the green spaces/pitches that run along Lein Park/Páirc Léin, and parallel with the river, drained and put to use in the community as football playing areas/pitches and if he could give a report on same to include comment on whether, if drained, these pitches could meet the requirements of the two local football clubs who are seeking to have an all- weather pitch developed in McAuley Park.

Minutes:

Order: Agreed.
