Motions

9a

Motion in the name of Councillor Michael O'Brien

That this area committee requests that Dublin City Council reconsiders its refusal to grant a free on street parking space for at least one member of staff at Drumcondra National School in order to ensure that in the event of an emergency a pupil can be readily driven to hospital or any other urgent destination should the occasion arise.

Minutes:

Order: Traffic Engineer to contact Councillor Michael O’Brien

9b

Motion in the name of Councillor Michael O'Brien

That this area committee supports the campaign by crane operators organised by the UNITE trade union to achieve pay parity with other skilled grades in the construction trade.
Furthermore the area committee will communicate its support for the crane operators to the Construction Industry Federation emphasising our concern that by resisting their legitimate pay claim that the construction of much needed dwellings is being delayed by the necessary days of strike action that they are forced to take.

Minutes:

Order: Report to Councillor

9c

Motion in the name of Councillor John Lyons

This Area Committee endorses the findings of the Dublin City Council North Central Playground Audit which identified Kilbarrack as the area most in need of play facilities, recognises, and calls for the ring-fencing of, the 50,000 allocated in the North Central Discretionary Fund 2017 as significant financial support for the project and calls for the remaining 100,000 required by the Parks and Landscape Services Department to be included in the Capital Budget 2018.

Minutes:

Order: Report to Councillor

9d

Motion in the name of Councillor Deirdre Heney

That the manager give a detailed report on the progress or otherwise of the City Councils age friendly village project in Raheny run in conjunction with the HSE to include any plans for an expansion of the project into other parts of the city, namely Killester.

Minutes:

Order: Report to Councillor

9e

Motion in the name of Councillor Alison Gilliland

North Central Area Committee recognises the immense need to increase housing supply in the local area. North Central Area Committee also recognises the imperative of good planning to support sustainable cohesive and inclusive communities. While most of the smaller DCC owned sites across the North Central Area have been identified and a plan established for building on them. However, the large expanse of DCC owned land bordered by Clarehall Ave, Malahide Rd and surrounding the current Belmayne estate has not been included in DCC's various land initiatives. While a masterplan is being developed for this area and the relevant LAP is to be reviewed, this motion seeks that this land be developed under a new DCC Land Initiative. This new Land Initiative would be capable not only of increasing housing supply but almost 1,000 units but also of fulfilling the expectations of the previous planning application 4315/03 including the current deficits in community, social and retail amenities.

Minutes:

Order: Organise Information meeting with Councillors ,John O’Hara and Paul Clegg. ( Planning ) Refer Motion to Information meeting

·         Clarification required – When is Part 8 going to City Council meeting ?

·         Is Master plan being extended or reviewed ?

·         Write to Minister for Transport seeking funding for the “ Main Street “ , Belmayne , a road which is to link the west ( Belmayne ) and east ( Clongriffin) Town Centres
