The following emergency motions were tabled:

Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke:

That this Central Area Committee agrees that the City Council install the 6th lamp on the Five Lamps given the great 6-in-a-row by the great Dublin football team on December 19th 2020.

ORDER: This motion was not agreed.

Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Janice Boylan:

That this Area Committee calls on Dublin City Council to immediately undertake repair works on the former Magdalene Laundry site on Seán Mc Dermott Street given its historical importance and future possible designation as a National Site of Conscience or Archive. Giving the many promises from government so far that haven’t yet materialised and in line with the report published today we, the elected Councillors need to ensure that the promises and commitments are fully honoured. The starting place in Sean Mac Dermott for DCC is to make sure all relevant repair work is carried out fully.

ORDER: This motion was not agreed.

Emergency Motion in the names of Councillors Joe Costello and Declan Meenagh:

Considering that Dublin City Council management and staff carry out essential work in running the City;

Considering that approximately 1,000 staff members have been unavailable for work for Covid-related reasons at some stage since the pandemic began;

Considering that the increase in staff unavailability is having an impact on service levels;

This Committee calls on the Minister for Health and the National Immunisation Advisory Committee to designate Council staff as frontline workers who should receive the Covid Vaccine at as early a stage as possible.

ORDER: Agreed. Letters to be sent to the Minister for Health and to the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.

Emergency Motion in the names of Councillors Christy Burke, Anthony Flynn, Nial Ring and Janice Boylan:

That this Central Area Committee express our sorrow and sadness to the families and close friends of two great community activists who passed in the last week.  Ms. Breda Nolan in the Ballybough area and Mrs. Maureen Grant late of Drumalee, Dublin 7 and the Olympia.  Both women played great roles in the city and we thank them.

ORDER: Agreed. Letters to be sent to the bereaved families.

Emergency motion in the names of Councillors Ray McAdam, Janet Horner, Anthony Flynn, Cat O’Driscoll, Darcy Lonergan and Christy Burke:

That this Area Committee in endorsing the Report of the Filtered Permeability Traffic Trial at Grangegorman, and in light of the agreed motion at this Committee in September 2020 for a Phibsborough Traffic Management review, calls upon the Traffic and Transportation Department to expedite the proposed Neighbourhood Traffic Scheme process so that measures to:

·         Reduce commuter parking,

·         Cut vehicular speeds,

·         Reduce traffic volumes,

·         Enhance pedestrian and cycling opportunities

are prepared by the Engineering & Transportation Department with a view to implementing across the Cabra, Phibsborough and Stoneybatter, following appropriate local consultation in each neighbourhood, like the initial works undertaken, to date, in East Wall.
