With reference to motions to the Area Managers PDF 130 KB Additional documents: Minutes: Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke
That the Central Area Committee condemns outright the defacing act on the statue of the late great Luke Kelly in the north wall last night.
ORDER: Agreed.
Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick The elected members of Dublin City Council are extremely concerned over the Governments complete failure to progress restoration and development of the National Monument on Moore Street, dereliction and deterioration of the street which directly negatively impacts on footfall and trading on the street. Employers, traders and business owners on the street believe the prolonged failure to develop the National Monument and regenerate Moore Street is causing businesses to fail, undermining employment and more businesses will follow suit if urgent action is not taken. We call on the Government to immediately release funds and commence work to restore and develop the National Monument so that the birthplace of our republic and Dublin city's oldest market trading street is restored and re-established as one of Dublin's primary attractions. ORDER: Agreed.
Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke
That the Central Area Committee agree to arrange with Irish Rail to install a plaque to honour the late volunteer John Kinsella at the wall on Stoney Road, North Strand. John’s former home was 3 – 4 Spencer Street. John was a Fianna boy and was an active volunteer at Dublin Brigade IRA in the War of Independence.
ORDER: Agreed.
Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke
That the Central Area Committee agree to send their congratulations to DCC Parks Department regarding the installing off Christmas trees in the area and to thank all involved.
ORDER: Agreed.
Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring
That the Central Area Committee request the Chief Executive to examine and report back to us on the feasibility/possibility of opening the Readymix Site on East Wall Road on a temporary basis (until plans for its development are in situ) for use as community based facility such as farmers market, stalls etc. or even as a park and ride facility to alleviate the excessive parking on the streets in the area.
ORDER: Report to Councillor.
Motion in the name of Councillor Janice Boylan
To have the manager immediately start a decent window and door replacement scheme for the many DCC tenants living in horrendous conditions. If it was a private landlord we would be condemning them. In particular the tenants of Queen Street the so called new builds. The windows and doors are in bad need of replacement. And telling tenants who pay their rent that nothing can be done is not acceptable.
ORDER: Report to Councillor.
