Motions to the Area Manager

The following Emergency Motion was tabled and agreed.

Emergency Motion in the names of the Central Area Committee Councillors

That the Central Area Committee calls upon the Executive to implement a suite of short-term measures to address the illegal and often dangerous parking as well as speeding vehicles along Montpelier Hill, Drive, Gardens and Park, Dublin 7 in the same way as the former Area Committee sought to address similar issues in the East Wall area.  Furthermore we seek to have a longer-term traffic management plan established for the Montpelier, Infirmary Road and O’Devaney Gardens area and until that is in place we seek to ensure that a suite of shorter term measures are in situ by July 31st next.

We call on the Manager to write to the Garda Commissioner, the Garda Traffic Core and the Court Services to ask for their co-operation in this matter.

ORDER: Letters to be sent to The Garda Commissioner, the Garda Traffic Core and the Court Services.

Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring

That the Central Area Committee calls on the Office of Public Works to carry out the necessary excavation works to recover the remains of Joe Brady, Daniel Curley, Michael Fagan, Thomas Caffrey and Tim Kelly, in what is commonly known as the Invincibles Yard at Kilmainham jail.

The bodies of these five members of the Irish National Invincibles lie beneath the paving slabs of the yard where they were executed in 1883 for their part in the Phoenix Park assassinations.

The families of the five men are represented by the National Graves Association and the wish of the families is for their relatives to be exhumed from Kilmainham jail and reinterred in consecrated ground at Glasnevin Cemetery.

ORDER: Letter to be sent to the Office of Public Works

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

That the Central Area Committee agrees to reinstate nice stone settings and a plaque with a song verse on the statue of Luke Kelly in Guild Street, Dublin 1.

ORDER: Report to Councillor

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

That the Central Area Committee agrees to reset the covers on all the manhole covers from the main road from the Five Lamps to the Fire Station on North Strand Road as they can create noise when traffic passes over them.

ORDER: Report to Councillor

Motion in the name of Councillor Joe Costello

That the Central Area Committee calls on the Manager to clarify the extent to which landlords are bound by data protection / privacy legislation in their use of CCTV within their rented accommodation and what rights tenants have in this regard.

ORDER: Report to Councillor

Motion in the name of Councillor Neasa Hourigan

That the Central Area Committee undertake to ‘green’ and replant the large circular patch of tarmac at the corner of Attracta Road and Faussagh Avenue and include a rest point to accommodate residents that are elderly or who have  ...  view the full minutes text for item 23.
