This Area Committee calls for inspections of all homeless accommodation in the North Central Area used by Dublin City Council to be conducted by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), starting with an inspection of the family hub accommodation in the North Central Area.

This Area Committee notes that the playground audit conducted by Dublin City Council in 2017 identified Kilbarrack, Harmonstown and Raheny as the three areas in Dublin North Central most in need of play facilities for children and young people, supports the calls of local groups in Harmonstown for a new playground for their area, calls for the inclusion of sufficient funds for the new playground in Harmonstown in the capital programme 2019-2020 and calls on the Dublin City Council to immediately commence the community consultation for the new project.

That this Area Committee supports the campaign of industrial action by nurses and midwives for pay justice and pay equality.

That this Area Committee calls on Dublin City Council to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of senior citizen bungalow units on the green space between Howth View Park and St Donagh's Road

Motion in the name of Councillor Alison Gilliland

 

Recognising the increase in on street parking in the residential areas of  adjacent to Beaumount Hospital, in particular Kilbarron Road., Kilbarron Avenue, Kilbarron Park, Kilbarron Drive, Cromcastle Green, Ballyshannon Road and Castletimon Green, the North Central Area Committee requests that an audit of non-residential parking (i.e. parking by those not living in the community) be carried out with regard to a) interference with safe exit and egress to local residents' driveways, b) interference with road sweeping, c) interference with emergency vehicle access to local residents and to the hospital and that consideration be given to measures that might reduce the incidence of parking in the area.

Recognising the ongoing dumping of rubbish on the green area backing onto Tara Lawns and opposite Belcamp Gardens, (see attached photo), and the distinct need for social housing the North Central Area Committee asks the Manager to consult with the local residents to ascertain their views on proposing the area for social housing.

Motion in the name of Councillor Alison Gilliland

 

The North Area Central Committee commends the working done by the Community, Public Realm and Parks Officials in the local area office to enhance the Darndale estate and Darndale Park. In particular the North Area Central Committee commends the drainage work on the football pitches, the improvements to the Clubhouse, the success of the CE scheme to afford continuous maintenance of the Park and looks forward to the planned pond upgrade and works to reduce flooding on the paths. Recognising these successes and the need for continuous supports and enhancements for the area, the North Central Area Committee supports the suggestion that a CE scheme be established to support the work of North Central Area workers within the Darndale estate with regard to street and footpath cleaning, litter management, community liaison and any other supports as deemed appropriate by the local Area Manager.

Motion in the name of Councillor Alison Gilliland

 

The North Area Central Committee recognises the safety and anti-social behaviour issues raised by local residents with regard to the methadone clinic in Darndale and requests that the Manager invite a senior representative of the clinic to present to the Local Area Committee with regard to the effectiveness of the medical approach used, the safety issues pertaining to the location of the clinic and the potential for the use of suboxone as an alternative to methadone treatment for opioid addicts.

Order:  HSE Manager and a Clinician from the Methadone Clinic in Darndale be invited to attend March meeting specifically in relation to the possible use of suboxone as an alternative to methadone.

That this Area Committee respectfully asks DCC Parks to re-open the northern gate on the cycle-way running through Fairview Park so that cyclists like me can use the gate as an entrance/exit point at peak times.
