May 2023 Motions DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE 17th May 2023
M244 Councillors Daithí Doolan, Sophie Nicoullaud, Hazel De Nortúin, Máire Devine and Vincent Jackson That this Area Committee is committed to the development of the Brickfield Park dressing rooms in line with the plans drafted by DCC and calls on Dublin City Council to prioritise it in the current Capital Programme of Work, we also call on Dublin City Council to consult with local residents through a Citizen Hub engagement and commence the Part 8 planning processas soon as possible.
M245 Councillor Daithí Doolan This Area Committee congratulates the organisers of the Cherry Blossom Festival for the success of another inclusive, fun filled, diverse festival in Cherry Orchard. Particular thanks to the DCC’s local community development team and the many community groups, sports clubs and venues for working together in close cooperation to deliver this festival.
M246 Councillors Sophie Nicoullaud, Máire Devine and Daithí Doolan That this Committee discuss how Bluebell Park was designated as a potential location for youth sport practice. To discuss how it came as a question in November SCAC without any request from or consultation with the Bluebell residents. To discuss how Parks department envisage to use a park for sports practice while a dedicated all weather is located across from the park. That this committee support Bluebell residents in their request to meet with Parks as soon as possible as agreed at a meeting wirhin DCC and SCAC councillors. That this committee supports the Bluebell residents to keep Bluebell Park not for football practice to respect the need of the elderlies to keep a safe space for them to relax, and for anyone else who needs to relax away from balls potentially hitting them.
M247 Councillor Vincent Jackson That DCC Housing Department please give a clear and transparent way forward for residents who have additional space available in order to place homeless persons, what this process will look like any implication to existing benefits, this has the potential to offer single people / couples an opportunity to get accommodation in the areas they would like to live, offer tenants company and some additional financial supports etc.
M248 Councillor Vincent Jackson In view of the fact that very substantial numbers of apartments having being built by private developers in the Drimnagh Area and many others in the planning that Dublin City Council use some of the development levies to address the structural deficits in the Drimnagh Area i.e. Parks, facilities etc. Other communities can deliver substantial improvements when works take place however working class areas seem to lag behind. The development levies whilst centralised need to be spent to address needs in areas when necessary.
M249 Councillors Máire Devine This Committee agree to the installation of DYL at the corner of Herberton Road and New Ireland Road which is proving “rich pickings” for clampers.
M250 Councillors Máire Devine This Committee requests that Pimlico Green in Dublin 8 be provided with:
