Agenda item

Minutes:

Item 1

Motion in the name of Councillor Janice Boylan

That this Central Area Committee requests the manager to work with residents of Ormond Square and surrounding areas to look at a plan to restrict access to the laneway to residents and businesses only. The level of antisocial activity going on in the area is at an all-time high with active drug dealing and drug using. The lane is being used as a public toilet and until we have a better Garda presence that can completely stop these activities from going we need to work with this community. They are heartbroken by the ongoing anti-social activity and need Dublin City Council to engage with them to provide them with gates and fobs for each end of the laneway. This is the only practical solution that the community knows will help, they have come together and have a petition stating the request.

ORDER:  Agreed.
