DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL
SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE
19th April 2023
M238 Councillor Daithí Doolan
This Area Committee requests a presentation on the proposed development of the Dunnes Stores site on the Crumlin Road, Dublin 12.
M239 Councillor Máire Devine
This committee agree that replacement of removed trees (planned or otherwise) be prioritised and responded to in a timely manner. We request a comprehensive report on all options available so as neighbourhoods aren’t left with barren streetscapes for unacceptable lengths of time.
M240 Councillor Máire Devine
That this committee recognise that a green space at Margaret Kennedy Road/Donore Avenue is a requirement of the Part 8 Planning Permission for this housing scheme and we agree to open up part of the fenced off green area beside Margaret Kennedy Road / Donore Avenue for play and recreation in time for use for the summer period.
M241 Councillor Máire Devine
That this Committee acknowledge the increased congestion “between the canals” and in particular concentrated at Dolphins Barn/SCR/Old Kilmainham area. This is affecting not just public and private vehicles/road users caught in tailbacks but residents, businesses and those attending SJH.
We request that a meeting be convened with interested parties so they can present to DCC Traffic Department with a view to agree improving the environment. We request that an Invitation to meet stakeholders be issued to;
· Chief Fire Officer,
· National Ambulance Service,
· An Garda Síochána,
· Dublin Bus,
· Cycling Ireland,
· Businesses along this stretch of the SCR,
· St James’s Hospital,
· Children’s Health Ireland (new children’s hospital)
· Residents Committee’s registered with DCC within this area
· EPA – air quality measurements,
· Royal Hospital Kilmainham,
· Kilmainham Gaol,
- DCC to provide peak time drone footage and a report on the impacts of junction(s)reconfiguration.
M242 Councillor Máire Devine
Committee members are confounded by the unilateral decision to terminate the integrated design team that have been working on the Emmet Road Development for some years now. It is difficult to comprehend why this decision was taken without discussion or consultation with the IRCF. It undermines the collaborative workings of the Forum and damages the high level of trust and understanding that has evolved.
In the interests of continued productive community relations and continuity of the development we request that this decision be reversed. This is vital so as to avoid numerous inevitable lengthy delays that re-tendering poses.”
M243 Councillor Vincent Jackson
To ask the Director of Services to look upon the security of the Lawns Park, Le Fanu Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10 with the objective of trying to stop the disgraceful anti-social behaviour of a few who has destroyed some of the football pitches used by Ballyfermot United etc. These people volunteer their time to serve the needs of children and youths in our communities. To see this constant hassle is soul destroying on their efforts and we must ensure those responsible are held responsible. Can I ask that repairs be carried out as a matter of urgency to ensure football continues at this busy location for Sport.
