SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

M211   Councillor Darragh Moriarty

That this Area Committee welcomes the convening of a private and confidential briefing for Group Leaders regarding the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the Iveagh Markets, calls for a similar private and confidential briefing to be held with South Central Area Councillors, and calls for Dublin City Council, notwithstanding ongoing legal discussions, to take action under the Derelict Sites Act to secure and take control of the Iveagh Markets building with support by and engagement with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, specifically Minister of State Malcolm Noonan. 

 

M212   Councillor Vincent Jackson

That DCC please ensure that as part of the physical re-development of Labre Park Kylemore Road Ballyfermot Dublin 10 that a proper functioning community building be provided as a vehicle for positive community engagement, adult education, youth and community services. Labre Park is the oldest permanent Traveller specific site in the City we owe it to the current and future generations to provide a safe space for positive traveller specific services to grow.

 

M213   Councillor Máire Devine

That this Committee welcomes Minister Chambers recent positive response to Aengus O’ Snodaigh TD in relation to the proposed pitch at Marrowbone Lane and agrees to follow his advice and apply for funding from “Dormant Accounts”.

That this Committee expresses frustration and exasperation on behalf of the public who are stuck in significantly increased traffic jams along the length of the SCR and request, on their behalf, an update and report detailing any prudent recommendations that would ease the lengthy travel time.

That this Committee call on waste providers to ensure all communication with customers is clear and correct. Furthermore that we write and remind them of the agreed list of streets designated for bag collection.

That this Committee agrees to invite Robert Emmet Community Development Project to make a presentation on their participation in “City of Care EU Project” lead by Assistant Professor Lidia Manzo, University of Milan.

M217   Councillor Sophie Nicoullaud

That this Committee agree to organise for the Inchicore Railway Estate Residents Association to present to the Elected Members their forthcoming five year Community Vision and Development Plan for the area 2023-2027.  To set a date for the presentation.

 

           

M218   Councillor Sophie Nicoullaud

That DCC keep all elected representatives up to date regarding any plans to envisage housing for homeless people from all provenances and background. To keep us up to date monthly whether there is a plan or not. That an update is delivered to the Elected Members at every monthly SCAC meetings.  We need to know before rumours go around. No communication only gives rise to rumours, lies, and misinformation. 

 

M219   Councillor Daithí Doolan

The South Central Area Committee welcomes the recent announcement by the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee that a task force will be put in place in Cherry Orchard to tackle the causes and consequences of serious criminality and anti-social behaviour.

This Committee urges the Department of Justice to establish the task force as a matter of urgency, to fully resource it, to ensure senior decision makers participate, that the community is fully represented and that the community sector is included.
