Minutes:

The following motions to the Area Managers were tabled:

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

That this Central Area Committee requests a report as to when the 2 vacant large units at Hardwicke Street be placed into housing stock and a date of when works will be complete on the 2 units at Rory O’Connor House, Hardwicke Street, Dublin 1.

ORDER: Agreed.  Report to Councillor.

Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring

Having regard to  the City Architect's report on the Diamond Park project and, in particular, the reference to the potential "removal of Georgian style houses constructed in the last quarter of the 18th century as part of the Gardiner Estate that survive at subsurface level within the extant park" this Area Committee agrees that no removal of such houses will take place without a full report on their historical, architectural and archaeological merit being presented to the area committee and that this committee will have the final say in their preservation or removal.

ORDER: Agreed.  Report to Councillor.

Motion in the names of Councillors Janet Horner, Anthony Flynn, Cat O’Driscoll, Eimer McCormack, Darcy Lonergan, Janice Boylan, Joe Costello, Declan Meenagh, Christy Burke, Nial Ring, Ray Mc Adam and Colm O’Rourke

That this Area Committee expresses our sorrow and condolences at the recent deaths of people experiencing homeless in our city and calls on the DRHE to ensure that beds are made available to anyone in need of emergency accommodation in Dublin based on humanitarian need rather than any other criteria.

ORDER: Agreed.  Report to Councillor.

Motion in the name of Councillor Ray McAdam

That this Area Committee agrees that a statue be erected of the former Chairman of the Provisional Government and Commander in Chief of the National Army, General Michael Collins and that this Council works to identify an appropriate site within the City Centre to locate such a statue. Furthermore, this Area Committee calls on the Council to expedite this proposal in light of the approaching centenary of the Anglo-Irish Treaty and the 100th anniversary of Michael Collins’ by Irregulars in Béal na Bláth.

ORDER: This motion was not agreed.

Motion in the name of Councillor Cieran Perry

That this committee calls on the Chief Executive to make all Strategic Housing Development planning applications available online to enable access for all citizens.

While there is a requirement for developers to produce a public website for all Strategic Housing Developments, there is currently no requirement for the developer to maintain the website on approval of the planning application. The lack of online information disadvantages local residents monitoring the development.

All SHD planning applications are available at the Dublin City Council Planning Desk but online availability should be standard for planning applications of all types.

ORDER: Agreed.  Report to Councillor.

Motion in the name of Councillor Declan Meenagh

That this Area Committee ask for a detailed briefing on what is proposed in Martin Savage Park and a detailed report on how all local residents (including those without Internet Access) will be consulted.

We note the proposed redevelopment of Martin Savage Park.  We note the important contributions St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh GAA club and Phoenix FC have made to the Navan Road and surrounding areas.  We note the importance of providing sporting facilities alongside the importance of maintaining wild life and other uses of our parks.

We also note the impacts of proposed changes to the lands around the current level crossing at Ashtown station with DART West and the potential this has to cut down trees and remove grass areas.

ORDER: Agreed.  Report to Councillor.
