April 2024 Motions

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

17th April, 2024

M314  Councillor Sophie Nicoullaud         (Deferred from March meeting)

For this Committee to support the request from local social workers among others to add more 3 beds in the Emmet Road Project. That this Committee writes to the Minister for Housing expressing our support and asking for his support to provide housing for families.

M320   Councillor Daithí Doolan

In noting the ageing population and the lack of a bus service this Area Committee agrees to write to the NTA and Dublin Bus requesting that they provide a shuttle bus service between lower Ballyfermot and Ballyfermot Road to facilitate residents accessing essential services in Ballyfermot.

M321   Councillor Máire Devine

That this committee agree to write to the NTA to  convene a meeting with  DCC Traffic, NTA and residents of CIE Works, Inchicore with the objective of finding solutions to the many difficulties posed by the Bus Connects proposals.

M322   Councillor Hazel de Nortúin

This Area Committee agrees to write the Housing Manager, Frank D'Arcy, and urge him to take immediate action on the derelict house at Cherry Orchard Grove. This house has been vacant for a number of years, is facing a community centre and school and has been a dumping site for years. We ask that the house be refurbished immediately.

M323   Councillor Hazel de Nortúin

We ask that DCC Housing Department engage with the Maisonette tenants in Bluebell on Huband Road to see if there's an option for them to be included in the new LDA planned development.

It's been documented for years now that the Maisonettes need maintenance and with the new development, there's an option to include all Maisonettes in the area.

M324   Councillor Vincent Jackson

That Dublin City Council please explain in plain simple terms what action we as a Local Authority can take against a tiny minority of our tenants who seem to think it’s OK to behave in a manner which destroys the quality of life for adjoining neighbours / community. I am years asking what action we can take however it appears that some people don`t care and are happy to diminish the quality of life for the vast majority within their community.
