Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Ray McAdam

That the Area Committee expects to receive the Consultative Report arising from the local engagement on the interim North Circular Road cycle scheme, with particular focus on Hanlon's Corner and the specific upgrade between Dorset Street and Summerhill Parade. It is not acceptable that this report, first promised back in July, has still not being shared with local Councillors and this Area Committee calls upon the Active Travel Unit to make a presentation on the issue sharing details of the consultative report, either to a special meeting of Area Councillors, or at the December meeting of the Central Area Committee.

ORDER:  Agreed.

Item 1

Motion in the names of Councillor Janet Horner and Councillor Deborah Byrne

This committee calls on the Council to prepare plans for the purchase of Aldborough House and bringing it back into use for community gain and regeneration of the wider area.

ORDER:  Agreed.

Item 2

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

This Committee agrees to seek a report on the whole area around the markets regarding car parking on Saturday and Sunday, as residents have made complaints regarding the volume of cars parking in the area.

Also we request that a street plan & safety traffic plan, for Beresford Street, be put in place, as soon as possible, due to HGVs driving up and down this small street.   This is causing great concern to local residents

ORDER:  Agreed.

Item 3

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

That this committee calls on the Archbishop of Dublin to oppose the down grading of St Mary’s Pro Cathedral Dublin 1

I am aware that the Archbishop has had meetings with the public in the Westland Row area and discussions have taken place regarding this issue.

ORDER:  Agreed.

Item 4

Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring

In noting that the Per Cent for Art Scheme could potentially provide up to one million Euro for Arts Projects along the Clontarf to City Centre Cycle route (depending on the final cost - budget is €63m but will be exceeded), the members of this committee once again reiterate our support for some financial compensation fund to be set up to compensate local businesses along the Clontarf to City Centre cycle route, who have seen a fall in business of over 30% on average during the works. People's livelihoods should come before art.

ORDER:  Agreed with amendment proposed by Cllr. Ray McAdam and therefore calls the Chief Executive on how such a scheme could be implemented and share the outline of the same scheme in Dec CAC meeting.

Item 5

Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring

That the members of this committee welcome the recently published Final Report of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Autism, and request the Area Manager ensures that the Central Area commits to implementing, insofar as possible and practicable, the recommendations of the committee pertaining to autism friendly social housing, autism friendly  ...  view the full minutes text for item 6.
