Motions to the Area Manager

Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring

That this committee instruct the Chief Executive to arrange a moratorium on out of hours work/ derogations on the Spencer North Site until further consultation has taken place with local residents, as it seems that such derogations are now becoming the norm and also seem to be granted on an almost automatic basis without any consideration for the ongoing disruption being caused to the local community

ORDER: Agreed.

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

That the Central Area Committee agree to make a request to the bus servers companies, that park their buses on Sean McDermott Street, outside Marys Mansions complex, to move the buses to a more suitable location.  Every day the buses are blocking the views of drivers trying to enter on to Sean McDermott Street. Also, school children and parents trying to cross the road are very concerned.

ORDER: Agreed. Area Office to contact Traffic Enforcement Section, Gardai and the relevant bus companies.

Motion in the name of Councillor Janet Horner

That the Central Area Committee recognises the important role that residents and the community play in the successful implementation of the National Drugs Strategy in the Dublin Central Area and calls on the Minister of State for Health Promotion and the National Drugs Strategy to support this.

ORDER: Agreed. Letter to be sent to the Minister of State with special responsibility for Health Promotion and the National Drugs Strategy

Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring

That this Central Area Committee instructs the Area Manager to liaise with the GAA in relation to the "boulevard" from Ballybough Road to Croke Park to ensure that a prominent feature of the planned boulevard will be a fitting memorial to the fourteen civilians killed in Croke Park on Bloody Sunday 21st November 1920. Features to be considered should include 14 trees, 14 statues of the victims or something similar, to be decided by public consultation, and with descendants of the victims or other interested parties.

ORDER: Agreed.

Motion in the name of Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick

That the Central Area Committee call on the Simon Community to attend the next meeting of the Central Area Committee to explain their service plans for the Central Area.

ORDER: Agreed. Letter to be sent to the Simon Community.

Motion in the name of Councillor Mary Fitzpatrick

In 2015 the Government welcomed and supported the acquisition by DCC of Dalymount Park.  The elected members of the Central Area Committee are deeply disappointed that four years later the Government has failed to match DCC’s commitment to redevelopment of the stadium and we call on the Government to immediately approve the outstanding application for matching funding from the Government for appointment of a design team.

ORDER: Agreed.
