The following emergency motions were tabled:

 

Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

 

That this Area Committee agrees to have a mural of world boxing champ and holder off a gold medal and two international footballers at a suitable location in the north Inner City.

 

The mural will be for Kellie Harrington, Wes Houlhan and Troy Parrot who all live in Portland Row, Dublin 1.

Emergency Motion in the names of Councillor Janice Boylan and Councillor Gaye Fagan

 

That the Central Area Committee calls on the manager and all related staff in Dublin City Council to provide a power source for the defibrillator that will save lives in Stoneybatter once it’s up and running. And furthermore that this Committee does not accept that power sources can be supplied for Christmas lights, and not for life saving equipment. This Committee calls again on all relevant bodies to work together quickly to resolve this.

Motions

 

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

That the Committee receive an update on the turn around on vacant units in the area and if a timescale would be put in place for an 8 week turn around in order to prevent delays off a family signing for a home.

Motion in the name of Councillor Ciaran Cuffe

That this Committee notes with concern the failure to implement much-needed safety measures at Mountjoy Square in the lifetime of this Council and seeks the urgent provision of fully signalised pedestrian crossings and speed reduction/traffic calming measures at all junctions at Mountjoy Square

Motion in the name of Councillor Ciaran Cuffe

In the light of the proposed redevelopment of Dalymount Park that this Committee affirms its commitment to the continued use of the Phibsborough Library building as a community facility and that a report on its future use be sought from the Chief Executive

Motion in the name of Councillor Ciaran Cuffe

That this committee shall pilot the use of ‘participative budgeting’ for 10% of next year’s Discretionary Budget.

Motion in the name of Lord Mayor Nial Ring

Having regard to the facts that the Mater Hospital has the busiest emergency department in the country, has the most modern emergency, radiology and critical care programme in the country, has the largest number of single rooms in the hospital system, has capacity to expand and is staffed by the most dedicated and caring professionals, this Committee fully endorses the IEHG (Ireland East Hospital Group) nomination of the Mater Hospital to become the Major Trauma Centre in Dublin.
