The following emergency motion was tabled:

 

Emergency Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

 

That this Committee agrees that buses parked on Cumberland Street should find a safer place to park.  The residents are very concerned that the street is too narrow for this parking and it is causing a safety issue for them.

Motion in the name of Councillor Christy Burke

 

That this Committee congratulates all involved in the Beacon fire display at Railway Street, Dublin 1 on Friday 13th October.

ORDER:  Agreed.

 

Motion in the name of Councillor Ray McAdam

That the Central Area Committee agrees to initiate whatever steps are necessary to extinguish the public right of way over the laneway which is between 20 and 22 St. James Avenue and which leads onto St Josephs Avenue.

ORDER:  Report to Councillor.

 

Motion in the name of Councillor Janice Boylan

 

That the Central Area Committee calls on the Chief Executive to do all that is necessary with our drainage and sewerage system throughout the northside, to combat the surge of rodents.  Especially in light of the amount of tenants reporting sightings in some of our flat complexes.  This problem is not only for the HSE to deal with, Dublin City Council need to step up in pest control, especially when we have situations where rodents are coming up sewerage pipes into toilets.

That the Central Area Committee requests that a Dublin Bike Scheme be immediately located at North Strand Fire Station as this area has ample room for such an installation.

That this Central Area Committee supports the restoration and development of the Jewish Graveyard on Fairview Strand and further supports the use of the premises attaching thereto as a Heritage Centre to be licenced to an appropriate local Heritage/Historical Group following a consultation process.  The Committee also requests that the 2018 budgets include an allocation for the upgrade of the graveyard and the house.

Motion in the name of Councillors Niall Ring and Ciaran Cuffe

 

That this Central Area Committee fully supports the building of Gaelscoil Cholaiste Mhuire at Dominick Street and calls on the Minister for Education to confirm that, in recognising and having regard to the inordinate delays to date on this project, the building of the school will now be prioritised and fast tracked by his Department.

ORDER:  Agreed. Letter to be sent to the Minister for Education.
