Motion in the Name of Cllr. Ray McAdam Minutes: That the Central Area Committee calls upon the
Chief Executives of Dublin City Council and the Courts Service to
ensure that a statutory public consultation be provided for when a
planning application is lodged with the City Council for the
development of a Family Courts Division on Hammond Lane. The
redevelopment of the site on Hammond Lane could have a profound
impact on the quality of life for residents living nearby and they
should be afforded every opportunity to allow for their views to be
formally considered by the Planning Authority.

Motion in the name of Councillor Eilis Ryan That this Committee calls on Dublin City Council to draft a contingency plan for waste collection in areas with bag collections, to ensure a service is available in the event that no company is willing to collect bags.
This is warranted by the fact that the major companies have noted the expense of collecting bags, and their disappointment that it has not been possible to change more streets from bag to wheelie bin collections. As a result it is legitimate to assume that these companies may at some point pull out of the area. While there is no guarantee of this happening, in the interests of good planning, a contingency plan is warranted.
Minutes: That this Committee
calls on Dublin City Council to draft a contingency plan for
waste planning, a contingency plan is warranted.

Motion in the name of Councillor Janice Boylan That this Committee calls on the Minister for Transport and Dublin Bus to train their drivers in basic first aid. This follows on from the untimely death of a local resident who choked to death on a 46A bus. The family, in particular Seamas’s daughters Joanna and Rachel are adamant that he could have been saved had the protocol for drivers included basic first aid training.

Motion in the name of Councillor Janice Boylan That this Committee calls on the Minister for Social Protection to consider maternity leave payments where Councillors who do not hold another job other than that of their elected roles can apply to be paid. I have only recently found out that I won’t qualify for maternity leave when I have my baby and this has caused me great stress.

Motion in the name of Councillor Nial Ring That this Committee recommends the addition of the Spencer Lift Bridge, including stone plaque and abutments, Sheriff Street to the Record of Protected Structure in accordance with Section 54 and 55 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, notwithstanding the decision of January 2013 not to do this on the basis that, at that time, the Senior Planner deemed that the heritage reasons for adding the bridge to the RPS were outweighed by financial considerations.
