Agenda and minutes

At the Monthly meeting of the City Council on 3^rd September 2018 the following resolution was agreed:

“Dublin City Council hereby resolves to hold a Special Meeting on September 13^th 2018 at 3pm to consider requests for nominations it receives from persons wishing to contest the 2018 Presidential Election.”       

The Lord Mayor opened the meeting by welcoming all the potential nominees and he informed them that they would be invited to make a presentation to the Members of the City Council after which a decision would be made by the City Council as to whether to proceed to endorse any candidate or not.

The procedures were outlined by Ms Deirdre Ni Raghallaigh, Senior Executive Officer. It was then proposed by the Lord Mayor and seconded by Councillor V Jackson “That Dublin City Council adopts the procedures for Dublin City Council to make a nomination for the 2018 Presidential Election as outlined” The motion was put and carried.

Presentations were made to the meeting by the following :-

·         Marie Goretti Moylan

·         John Groarke

It was proposed by Councillor K Binchy and seconded by Councillor R McAdam “Dublin City Council hereby resolves not to endorse any candidate for the 2018 Presidential Election”. The motion was put and carried.

The Lord Mayor thanked everyone for attending and the meeting concluded at 3.42pm.
