Minutes:

Report circulated to all members prior to meeting. Councillor Lyons wanted to acknowledge the amount of work being done on this and thanked Dublin City Council who led on this by commissioning the Jack Nolan Report. Councillor Gilliland reiterated what Councillor Lyons said and thanked Dublin City Council, Gardai & all stakeholders involved.

CCTV

Verbal Update by Derek Farrell

Minutes:

Derek Farrell advised that Dublin City Council are working with the Commissioner’s office in relation to Section 38 & that he was working on developing a tender for the repair on CCTV in Darndale. Further funding will be required following Section 38 being implemented. Councillor O’Muiri asked was there an update on CCTV in St. Anne’s park at entry/exits that he had allocated discretionary for agreed Bernie Roe will follow this up with Parks. Councillor O’Farrell asked if the CCTV in Weaver Park is operational and how/who installed these, Derek Kelly to follow up. Councillor Cooney advised that new legislation has been passed in relation to CCTV and illegal dumping however there was some confusion as to this actually being passed, Derek Farrell to look into this legislation & see if in fact has been passed and operational.

An Garda Síochána discussed the statistics for DMR North. Councillor Stocker raised concerns in relation to drug dealing in Lein Gardens and residents not being heard, Superintendent Kennedy asked Councillor to send him an email on matters raised. Councillor O’Muiri raised concern in relation to concerts in parks and how these work as well as shop owners thefts that are going un reported. Superintendent Kennedy stated that the level of communication with DCC & MCD productions was very welcomed and doesn’t see a problem with future events in relation to shop theft he advised for all to be reported & advised operation in process at moment that should come in effect in Aug/Sept 2022. Councillor Cooney brought an area of Clontarf Prom to the attention of Gardai as a number of gas canisters being found during clean ups. Following Councillor O’Toole issue in relation to drug dealing in an area of Darndale it was agreed that a meeting would be arranged by DCC, An Garda Siochana and local councillors to discuss this matter. Superintendent Barry advised committee that a new crime prevention officer has been assigned and is currently prioritising calls.

Garda Aidan Monahan

Minutes:

Inspector Aidan Monahan gave presentation which was welcomed by Councillor O’Toole and commended on all policing being done in the area. Councillor Gilliland reiterated this and asked if any garda clinics were planned for Omni, Inspector Monahan advised that they are being looked at for Aldi, Super Valu, Lorcan Ave and Omni. Councillor Batten asked if additional patrols being implemented in Parks over summer, Inspector Monahan advised that this is always on his radar at this time of year and he operates like at Halloween by contacting local shops and looks at trends over other years. Councillor Roe welcomed the Transition year iniative and enquired regarding funding on number of parks raised in the past, Inspector Monahan will contact Councillor directly on this matter. Councillor Lyons also commended this report and work being done.

Chief Superintendent Mark Curran not at meeting, agreed to keep on Agenda for next meeting in October.

Minutes:

Following Councillor Lyons concerns over the illegal commercial dump at Belcamp/Moatview it was requested that a meeting would be held with Area office, local councillors & Gardai in relation to a multi-agency approach. It was agreed that we would look for further information on this process and come back to Councillors. Councillor O’Toole wants this to be heard at higher level and commended Derek Farrell on quick reaction to an issue that was brought to his attention. Superintendent Barry advised that this issue has been raised with the Garda commissioner and is taking place at high level meetings. Councillor Lyons requested Chief Superintendent Mark Curran to meet and give update on this matter.

 

Agreed that Inspector John Moroney will attend next meeting in October to give update on Drug Intimidation.

 

Agreed Safety Forum Updates will be back in October & every 2nd meeting thereafter,

 

Linda Hayden resignation received. Community nomination to be looked into with Chief Executives.
