Order:Elaine Mulvenny, Vanessa Carey and Deirdre Murphy updated the Committee on the local safety forums. 

 

Elaine updated the Committee on the Edenmore and Donaghmede local safety forums.  Edenmore Garda Clinic is waiting on a new Garda replacement.  There are ongoing concerns in  Donaghmede regarding security in the Dart Station.  Iarnrod Eireann attend the DERA meeting every two months.

 

Vanessa up-dated the forum on the Clongriffin/Belmayme forum.  There are concerns from residents regarding anti-social behaviour that occurred in Clongriffin park on the St Patricks bank holiday weekend.  The attendance numbers have increased in the Clongriffin Garda Station.

 

Deirdre Murphy updated the Committee on the Darndale/Belcamp/Moatview safety forum.  The Park-run and Football Academy have had a very positive impact on the decrease in  dumping in the Park.  However, illegal dumping continues to be an issue in Darndale.  Superintendent Donnelly advised he met with Waste Enforcement in DCC to target the ongoing illegal dumping activity at Moatview/Belcamp, a truck was also seized and the case is still ongoing.

Order:The Garda discussed the statistics for DMR North.

 

Superintendent O Connor discussed anti-social behaviour from youths at Raheny Dart Station.  Cllrs discussed the increase in burglaries in the area and increase in organised crime gangs.  Cllrs spoke regarding some residents not happy with response times to certain incidents, superintendent O’Connor will look into this.

 

Superintendent Donnelly advised  there is a temporary closure of Edenmore Garda Clinic due to staff resources; they are waiting on a new Garda replacement for the clinic.  Cllrs discussed the dangerous use of scrambler bikes and also the increase of domestic violence in the area. 

 

Inspector Francis advised there is an increase in community guards in the Santry area.  Cllrs spoke regarding residents in the Kilmore area having issues with parking, DCC and the Garda will have to come up with a plan to manage this.

Garda Station in Clongriffin -

Garda Station Status – Chief Superintendent Mark Curran

Minutes:

Order:  Clongriffin Residents Association gave a verbal presentation regarding the request for a new Garda Station in Clongriffin.  Chief Superintendent Curran spoke about future proofing  for a Garda station in Clongriffin.  Currently there is are no plans for a Garda station, this is a political issue and financial resources are not available.  If finances were available, the preference would be to redevelop  Coolock Garda Station. Chief Superintendent Cllr’s agreed to write to the Department of Justice regarding a new Garda Station for Clongriffin.  Chief Superintendent Curran agreed that ‘future proofing’ to get a new Garda station will only be done with political support.  Deputy Broughan advised that the development of a Health Centre and a Garda Station should originally have been planned for in the Town Centre.

 

5.

Patrolling and public lighting of the Clarehall estate - Cllr John Lyons

Minutes:

Order: Cllrs discussed the new LED lighting that residents feel it has reduced visibility which  has led to an increase in car break ins.  Superintendent Donnelly advised there is no evidence to link these together. 

6.

North Central JPC Sub Committee Draft Plan 2019

Minutes:

Order:  Councillors to forward  any comments re: NCA JPC Work Plan 2019 to Deirdre Murphy. This plan will then be circulated to the forum members.

Election of a new Chairperson and Vice Chairperson will take place at the next JPC meeting in July 2019.

 

Cllr. Raised that Haverty Road is being used as a rat run, Superintendent Donnelly advised that there is currently  a guard  down there.
