Presentation by an Garda Síochána Additional documents: Minutes: Chief Supt. Ward presented crime statistics for 2017 to date and compared them to the statistics for the same period in 2016. He also gave presentations in relation to the sale of prescription drugs and domestic violence. The presentations were noted and the following matters were raised:
· Members requested information on the number of cases commenced since the new prescription drugs legislation was enacted. Chief Supt. Ward to bring this figure to the next meeting.
· Members discussed the issue of domestic violence and asked if incidents of sexual violence are included here or captured separately. Chief Supt. Ward to establish if he can quantify sexual violence incidents taking place in/outside of a domestic violence setting.
· Members expressed concerns in relation to the old Motor Tax Office building on Chancery Street. Cllr Ray McAdam has written to the owners and Supt. Ann Markey has also engaged with them re securing the building. Supt. Markey to keep Councillors informed of developments. DCC Planning Department and Derelict Sites Section to be contacted to see what action can be taken.
· Chief Supt. Ward to forward contact details for the two Gardaí that were victims of a recent assault in the Sheriff Street area. |

Funding has been approved. Location of cameras to be approved by Garda Senior Management. Date for installation not yet confirmed. |
