Minutes:

It was suggested that An Post be asked to standardise the paint colour of these post boxes.

The A/City Planner gave an update on the review of Protected Structures.  He advised that there is a national review being carried out by the NIAH, not just of Dublin City, and there is a huge volume of work to be carried out by the Planning and Property Development Department’s Conservation Section.  There are approx 8,500 buildings on the RPS.  The Conservation Section is working methodically through the NIAH survey, inspecting and reporting back to the Department.  Meanwhile, An Post has given a commitment that all historic post boxes will remain in situ.

It was suggested that a collective approach be adopted to add these post boxes to the RPS.

Motion 483from Councillor Tina MacVeigh to the South Central Area Committee Meeting and referred to this SPC:

“This Area Committee supports the occupation of Apollo House by housing activists and calls on Dublin City Council management to implement the following motion agreed at the City Council meeting on 10th November 2014:

That this Council open an ‘Unused Properties Register.’  The owners of private properties that have been unused / empty for a period of more than six months (as per CSO Census 2011 and other official statistics) will be required to register their intention for use with Council.”

Motion from Councillor Tina Mac Veigh to the South Central Area Committee and referred to this SPC;

That, following the tragic fire at Grenfell in London earlier this week, a fire safety review of multiple unit buildings constructed between 2000 and 2008 be carried out in the Dublin South Central area, that said review will entail an audit of all buildings in the area constructed at this time and that random checks of those buildings then be conducted to ascertain all potential risks including the use of cladding of all types and determine whether there is any cause for concern; and that this motion be forwarded for inclusion on the July agenda for Housing SPC, Planning, International Relations & Property Development, Environment SPC and the Special Committee for Fire and Ambulance Services so that a similar exercise be agreed for the city of Dublin.
