·         The non-viability of HAP as a housing policy

Depot Consolidation Report - Identified for Housing Projects

The Deputy Chief Executive gave a verbal report on the use of smaller depots under the proposal to consolidate DCC depots into 2 larger city-wide facilities. The following considerations were raised:

 

·         Super depot rationale

·         Feasibility studies for smaller depot site for public housing and recreational/community facilities

·         Potential disposal of smaller depot sites

·         Partnerships with Approved Housing Bodies to deliver housing on depot sites

·         Barriers that hinder more speedier development

·         Consultation with local communities

Apologies from the Director of DRHE, Ms Eileen Gleeson, were noted. The Homelessness Report was presented by the Deputy Chief Executive and was noted.

 

The following considerations were raised:

 

·       Positive achievements & progress

·       Support worker recruitment

·       Positive impact of outreach approach by support workers

·       Lack of housing capacity in system to provide for homeless single people

·       Emergency Accommodation/Family Hubs

·       Security

·       Capacity & extra bed requirement

·       Lack of addiction & mental health supports

·       Homelessness Report composition/language

·       Analysis/Evaluation of Housing First approach

·       Provision of day services and anticipated date for Day Services Report

·       Public Washroom pilot project consideration

 

Agreed:an update on the Day Services Report to be presented at next Housing Management focused meeting
