Lord Mayor's Business PDF 3 MB · Waste Management Presentation Additional documents: Minutes: In Memoriam A minutes silence was observed in remembrance of Nell McCaffrey, Journalist and Advocate for Social Justice and Women’s Rights, Edna O’Brien, Author, Jim Crowley former Dublin Corporation Housing Manager and All-Ireland Football Champion in 1958 and Matt Twomey former Assistant City Manager.
Noting that this is National Recovery Month, the Lord Mayor wished to remember all those who have died due to addiction.
Olympics and Paralympics Congratulations were given to all our athletes in the Olympic Games held in Paris in August. It was a pleasure to welcome them home on O’Connell Street on their return to Ireland and the Lord Mayor wished all our Paralympians who are currently competing in Paris the best of luck.
Submission of Election Expenses Statement for the Local Elections Reminder given to members that a hard copy of this statement must be returned to Michael Gallagher in the Chief Executive’s Office by 5th September 2024. Failure to make a submission will result in a Councillor being suspended and possibly disqualified.
Presentation of plastic bag bin waste A presentation on the new Waste Management Strategy to deliver a cleaner Dublin City was provided by Barry Woods, Senior Executive Engineer, Waste Management. City Centre businesses will no longer be able to put out rubbish in plastic bags. A copy of this presentation is attached to these minutes in Appendix A.
Task Force on Integration The Lord Mayor outlined his intention to establish a ‘Lord Mayor’s Integration Taskforce’ which will deliver an evidence based approach to community integration in Dublin City that supports resident communities as well as new communities and that can be used to provide recommendations to the Minister for Integration and separately, recommendations as how to maximise existing integration outreach in Dublin City Council, including through sport, while recognising that the role for housing international protection applicants is exclusively the competence of the Minister and not Dublin City Council.

Additional documents: Minutes: It was proposed by Councillor Ray McAdam and seconded by Councillor Cat O’Driscoll that Dublin City Council hereby approves the SPC Scheme 2024-2029 as amended, the nominations included therein and consents to the invitations of expressions of interest from sectoral members who wish to participate in the SPCs. The Council also approves the granting of an SPC Chair allowance of €6,000 per annum. The motion was put and carried.
