Emergency Motions

Minutes:

The order of business was suspended to deal with the following Emergency Motion: -

Emergency Motion from Councillor Vincent Jackson

That Dublin City Council responds to the serious ongoing sewage problems of some city residents when it is quite obvious the residents have no control what so ever over the under lying problem. One such man in Ballyfermot has had everyone up to see what the problem is and because he is at the end of a sewage run he gets everyone else’s problem.  What supports / action are we going to take to assist this and other persons to sort out the problems, asking neighbour to gain access to their waste pipes, looking for financial support  from neighbours to engage a private contractor have no legal foundation and this issue requires a City Council City wide response. Public Health issues and people’s mental health are now an issue which must be taken into consideration when dealing with these complex issues. I have control over most of the issues pertaining to my home however the sewage is outside the scope of all residents.

Order: Report noted.

November 2019 Motions

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

20th November 2019

M. 18   Councillor Críona Dhálaigh

That this Area Committee send sincere condolences to the family of Neeraj Jain, the young cyclist who was killed at the junction of South Circular Road and St James Hospital, Rialto, and call for an immediate safety audit of this junction. Local reps and residents have raised their concerns re safety at his junction for some time now. Can the council please consider introducing the scheme that exists in London whereby lorries, without safety measures to protect pedestrians and cyclists, face a fine of 550e.

M. 19   Councillor Daithí Doolan

This Area Committee takes the opportunity to thank Dublin City Council’s local area staff, the Gardaí and the local services for working together to ensure Halloween was a safe and enjoyable time for the community.

M. 20   Councillor Rebecca Moynihan

In light of the traffic death of a cyclist on Friday 1st November, this Area Committee agrees to an immediate safety audit of SCR/Brookfield road junction and the area outside Kilmainham shops for cyclists and pedestrians.

M. 21   Councillor Críona Dhálaigh

That this Area Committee support the residents of Oliver Bond in their demand to have a fit for purpose community centre built and that this be done as soon as possible.  The old rat infested centre is to be demolished, but as of yet there is no time frame for a much needed modern community centre to replace it. It is vital that a community centre is built here that will serve the whole community.

M. 22   Councillor Daithí Doolan

This Area Committee welcomes the adaption of the Cherry Orchard LAP. It is essential that the Implementation Group is established as soon as possible and that the community are included in its structure.

M. 23   Councillor Rebecca Moynihan

This Area Committee agrees to complete a safety audit and junction re-design of Cornmarket.

M. 24   Councillor Rebecca Moynihan

This Area Committee agrees to do a traffic audit of the Tenters/SCR with a view to establishing the parking capacity of the area and what steps can be taken to ease traffic congestion in the area.
