SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

M296   Councillor Mannix Flynn

That  this meeting of the South Central area call on Dublin City Council to take in charge the historical Tailors Hall building, which is now being used as a public house and make it available for community use within the area which is in great need of community facilities. The disposal of this building and the change of this building to public house is an absolute outrage. It was done in a non-transparent way without the knowledge of Councillors who have a reserve function in all aspects of property disposals and subleases of such properties. Further, that all documentation in relation to subleasing of this building and the change of use and what involvement Dublin City Council officials had in these decisions be made available for inspection.

For this Committee to be updated on a monthly basis on the progress on the City Edge Project and the creation of the statutory plan. That this update be added as an agenda item on the SCAC meeting. A vague and broad update was given in the Dec 23 monthly manager's report at a time planning applications are popping up within the City Edge perimeter. It is worrying to be told there could be years of delays for a statutory plan while the plan was to have a statutory plan in place in 2024.

That the Traffic Division look at a comprehensive traffic management plan for the Drimnagh area of Dublin. The area is currently experiencing a rapid growth in population with the construction of hundreds of apartments in addition the increased volumes of traffic using the area as a rat run to avoid traffic due to DCC restrictions along certain routes in and out of the City is causing no end of difficulties for current residents and is reducing the quality of life for residents etc. The development of a major traffic management plan will assist in addressing this issue.

That this Committee writes to the HSE regarding the retention of older persons services at Cherry Orchard Hospital, Ballyfermot. The Sycamore and Willow units are the best care facilities in the country. Families of residents are shocked that they are to be closed without proper alternatives on site. This Committee calls for proper face to face meeting to provide for their loved ones on site with the same care staff.

That this Committee seeks an update and further discussion on the agreed removal of the bottle bank, ill-positioned, on the footpath of Inchicore National School, D8

M301   Councillor Máire Devine

This Committee agrees to urgently recommence discussions regarding the potential development of the Marrowbone Lane Depot site at D8. The agenda will focus on providing much needed recreational amenities, open space and green networks as per Z9 and the current CDP.
