Emergency Motions

Additional documents:

Minutes:

Standing orders was suspended to deal with the following Emergency

            motions: -

Emergency Motion from Councillor Daithí Doolan

The South Central Area Committee expresses concern that families are still waiting to move in to the rapid build homes in Drimnagh. We  call on Dublin City Council and the builders to work together to ensure families are moved it as soon as possible and that families are kept updated on the situation. Reason is, this is a DCC contract and councillors were informed at December 4th council meeting that families would be moving in this week. Families are still waiting to move in.

Order: Agreed.

Emergency Motion from Councillor Greg Kelly

This Area Committee expresses our sympathy and sends our thoughts to the friends and family of the Dublin City Council tenant found dead in Bluebell yesterday. The committee ask that Dublin City Council staff from Housing and Community, carry out calls to all our vulnerable tenants over the next week to make sure that they are safe over this time.

We also call on DCC to pilot an Alarm Band scheme in the Bluebell and Jamestown Court senior citizens complex that would allow greater safety for our senior citizens

Order: Agreed.

December 2017 Motions

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

13th December 2017

559      Councillor Rebecca Moynihan

This Area Committee agrees that the following roads in the enviorns of the National Childrens Hospital works, be balloted for pay and display parking in light of the increased difficulties with all day parking by non residents in the area:

Cameron Square

New Ireland Road

Upper Cross Road

Portmahon Road

Herberton Road

Herberton Park

Rialto Street

Rialto Cottages

Haroldville Road

Malin Avenue

Clarke’s Terrace

560      Councillor Michael Mullooly

Given that 22 different agencies are providing homeless services to Dublin City Council this Area Committee recommends an independent audit of those services to ensure that Dublin City Council and the various service providers are complying with their child protection obligations and also protecting vulnerable adults.

561      Councillor Vincent Jackson, Councillor  Hazel Norton, Councillor Paul Hand & Councillor Greg Kelly.

This Area Committee asks that Dublin City Council please ensure that the Old ABC Community Centre on Bluebell Avenue is demolished as a matter of urgency and that serious consideration is given for the provision of allotments on this site which is transverse by electric pylons. In addition, there is a serious problem of ongoing prolific dumping at the entrance to the Old ABC site. Can Dublin City Council please ensure this waste is collected in a speedy manner? At a recent meeting of the ABC Community Association, neighbours were up in arms over the very poor physical state of the ABC site with vermin and anti-social behaviour all contributing to a poor living environment. Residents felt Dublin City Council needed to be much more pro-active in addressing issues in the Bluebell area such as illegal planning etc, and failure to address these issues would call into question a partnership approach to future development in the area such as Naas Road Developments and the proposed Bluebell Area Plan etc.

562      Councillor Paul Hand

That this Area Committee requests Dublin City Council take a more proactive stance in tackling ongoing issues in the Bluebell area. Furthermore this Area Committee congratulates the Bluebell Residents Association on their re-launch and commits to working with them and all community groups now and into the future.

563      Councillor Daithi Doolan

This Area Committee recognises that Dublin faces an unprecedented homeless crisis, and supports actions taken to tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness. In order to overcome some local hostility, Dublin City Council commits itself to engaging and consulting with communities and their representatives, before any future homeless services are opened in Dublin South Central.

564      Councillor Rebecca Moynihan

This Area Committee agrees to ask that the section of St. James Walk along the Luas line (from Rialto stop to Fatima stop when the road widens), have double yellow lines installed, as two cars can’t pass each other here and is likely to cause an accident.

565      Councillor Michael Mullooly

As a matter of policy that a change of use under Section 179(6)(b) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 will not be  ...  view the full agenda text for item 7.
