Lord Mayor Hazel Chu opened the Annual Meeting by welcoming Councillors back to the Round Room at the Mansion House as well as those who were participating  remotely. She thanked all her fellow Councillors and City Council Management for their support during what was a very difficult and turbulent year which saw the City endure many losses. It had been an honour and privilege to hold the position of Lord Mayor during this time. She highlighted her work in relation to inclusion, integration and fighting discrimination in the City and as well addressing the challenge of homelessness. In particular the creation of a cross party Task Force on Homelessness was a major achievement.

 

The Lord Mayor paid tribute to the staff of the Mansion House for their hard work and professionalism. She also thanked her husband Patrick, her mother Stella and all her friends and colleagues for their support and advice over the year. The Lord Mayor also thanked her Deputy Lord Mayor, Councillor Mary Callaghan.

 

Tributes were paid to the outgoing Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor by representatives of all the political groups on the Council, who thanked them for their service and leadership during the pandemic crisis.  

 

The Chief Executive on behalf of the management and staff of Dublin City Council thanked the Lord Mayor for her support during the COVID 19 pandemic and paid tribute to her valuable contribution during an incredibly difficult period for the city of Dublin.  He also acknowledged the work of the Deputy Lord Mayor Mary Callaghan as an ambassador for the City.
