(1) Motion in the name of Councillor Alison Field

In a world we live in today, Mental health is a major concern for everyone and unfortunately it is increasing rapidly.  I think we can and should do more to help.  Try reach out to all ages suffering from Mental Health and depression.  Let them know that there is support out there, and society does really care. I would like to put a better support systems in place, with helplines, and quotes that could bring people to a happier place.  I would like for us to have a look at train/dart stations, for a start as people can tragically end their suffering there.  I think we could start by placing boards/posters there, with quotes of support and numbers of helplines. I know that at the Wexford bridge they place teddies along the bridge and patrol the bridge.  I would be delighted if you have any other ideas along with my Councillor friends.  Thanking you.

This Area Committee calls on the manager refer to the “eurobin” type bins used by the City Council in senior citizen complexes, say if he is aware that the majority of senior citizen tenants cannot manage to open the lids of same because of the height and weight of these large lids and say if he can take the necessary steps to bring about change, i.e. install an opening lower down the side of the bin that could be more easily accessed.
