Motions 10.02.25 pdf icon PDF 323 KB

Additional documents:

Minutes:

Motion 1 from Councillor Dermot Lacey

This Committee again requests the Parks Department to develop a dog run in Herbert Park and suggests railing off area from side gate at the Ballsbridge end of the Dodder Walk on the inside of the path heading down behind the Herbert Park apartments adjacent all the way to the footpath. This is in the interests of overall safe use of the Park for children, sports players, adults and dogs.

Order:Agreed.

Motion 2 from Councillor Punam Rane

That the Chief Executive conducts a feasibility study to incorporate a running track in Bushy Park, similar to the recently established track at Porterstown Park in Castleknock, Dublin 15, which has proven to be a valuable addition to the community.

Currently, members of the Sportsworld Running Club have to rely on the Tallaght running track during weekends, and during weekdays, they run on roads or in the space adjacent to Tesco during the winter months. This situation poses significant safety risks. A dedicated running track in Bushy Park would provide a safe and accessible space for runners, promote fitness, and enhance the park’s amenities for the wider community.

Order:Agreed.

Motion 3 from Councillor Claire Byrne

That this Area Committee calls on the Area Manager to please improve street cleaning in the Portobello Area.

Order:Report to Councillor.

Motion 4 from Councillor Claire Byrne

That this Area Committee calls on the Area Manager to please increase street cleaning and street washing of Charlotte Way, Camden Street and Richmond Street South Area.

Order:Report to Councillor.

Motion 5 from Councillor Claire Byrne

To ask the Area Manager can he confirm when the footpaths on Grafton Street at the junctions of South Anne Street and Harry Street where tarmac has been dumped has been removed.

Order:Report to Councillor.

Motion 6 from Councillor Claire Byrne

To this Area Committee asks the Area Manager can he confirm when the footpath on Castle Market Dublin 2 where new tarmac has been dumped will be fixed.

Order:Report to Councillor.

Motion 7 from Councillor Pat Dunne

This Area Committee calls upon our Derelict Site Section to carry out an inspection of the vacant site formerly known as the Marble Arch public house and the warehouse building structures on the adjoining site on Davitt Road Drimnagh.

Dublin City Council refused planning permission to the Conor McGregor controlled property development firm Emrajare Limited on the 11th January 2024. ABP upheld the decision on the 10th May 2024.

The site remains derelict and it is reported that the owners are not engaging with the local Tidy Towns group.

Order:Agreed.

Motion 8 from Councillor Pat Dunne

This area committee supports the installation of additional Public Seating in the Kimmage Rathmines local area.

There is a deficient in public seating throughout the area. This has a serious impact on pedestrians seeking a rest and in particular those with mobility issues and older persons.

Order:Report to Councillor.

Motion 9 from Councillor Pat Dunne

Questions to the Chief Executive 10.02.25 pdf icon PDF 675 KB

Additional documents:

Minutes:

Q.1      Councillor Dermot Lacey

To ask the Manager if he can expedite the request for a Disabled Parking facility as outlined in the details attached to this Question:

“I recently applied to the DCC for a Disabled Parking Bay to service Gaelscoil Eoin.

I did this on the 22nd November 2024.

I did it with the knowledge and support of the School Principal and the Schools Board of Management.

I called the DCC today for an update to be told that nothing has been done with this request yet.

I was informed today that it could take several months for this request to be acted on.

As you are aware, my 5 year old daughter, who attends Gaelscoil Eoin, is disabled and sometimes in the morning we could have to park far away from the school entrance either on St Mary's road or Haddington Road to gain access to the School.

The reference number I received when I made the request with the DCC is TRF664380467.

I would appreciate any help you could give me with accelerating the process of getting a Disabled Parking Bay to service Gaelscoil Eoin in place.”

Reply:

The Transport Advisory Group (TAG) Area Engineer has visited the site and met with the Principal of Gaelscoil Eoin to assess the request for a disabled parking bay on Haddington Place (SE).

Due to limited space availability along Haddington Place, only one feasible location was identified approximately 21 meters from the Haddington Place / St. Mary’s Lane junction. While this location is not immediately adjacent to the entrance of St. Christopher’s Primary School, it remains the most viable option for installation.

The parking bay will be installed once the TAG process is completed. Please see the proposed layout below for further details.

Q.2      Councillor Dermot Lacey

To ask the Manager if he will examine synchronising the Traffic lights at the junction of Morehampton Road/Herbert Park and the Pedestrian Crossing at Donnybrook Fair shop. This would be safer and enable better traffic flow through the village

Reply:

These junctions operate on our Traffic Management System (SCATS). SCATS is an adaptive traffic management system responding to real time demand and adjusting signals where appropriate using predefined plans. All movements have to run during the cycle time, which is a maximum of 110 seconds. The linking between the pedestrian and the junction has been changed to allow better flow through the junctions. We will continue to monitor the area and make changes where appropriate.

Q.3      Councillor Dermot Lacey

To ask the Traffic Advisory Group to examine the suggestions made in the submission made with this Question and to report back to Councillors as soon as possible.

“Subject: Follow-up from the Garda in Donnybrook re letter from residents on The Crescent re traffic and parking

Dear Councillors Hogan and Lacey

You will recall that we wrote to you last November regarding traffic on The Crescent and one of you suggested that the view the Garda in Donnybrook would be important.  ...  view the full minutes text for item 9.
