DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

20th November, 2024

M029   Councillor Ammar Ali

That this Committee arranges for the drains on Bunting Road, Walkinstown, Dublin 12 to be repaired, to ensure issues with flooding – in and around Bunting park – are resolved.  Flooding has been a major issue on Bunting Road for over 25 years and the issue has never been properly resolved.

M030   Councillor Daithí Doolan

That this Area Committee agrees to invite Solas Youth Project in to the next Committee meeting to make a presentation.

M031   Councillor Daithí Doolan

That this Area Committee congratulates and expresses appreciation to all the Dublin City Council staff, emergency services, youth service and residents groups who worked so hard to make Halloween such a successful family friendly season.

M032   Councillor Daithí Doolan

That this Area Committee calls on Dublin City Council housing department to meet with residents from Lissadel Maisonettes as soon as possible and agree on a programme of works to be carried out as a matter of urgency.

M033   Councillor Darragh Moriarty

That the South Central Area Committee recognises the importance of the Canal Area Community Safety Public Meetings as a vital space for community engagement between local residents, residents associations and community groups with Dublin City Council, their local representatives and senior local Gardaí; that we welcome the increased levels of attendance and community participation in these meetings and acknowledge frustration due to lack of relevant senior DCC personnel; and we call on Dublin City Council to ensure that going forward, these meetings are attended by senior DCC staff to the level of Director of Services and if this is not possible, by at least Area Manager.

M034   Councillor Maire Devine

That this Committee welcomes the enabling works that will commence in next couple of weeks at the former site of St. Michaels Estate D8, in preparation for the construction of 500+ units. As the bid to maintain a walkway across the site has been declined, members request that DCC act with urgency and implement safety measures and improved lighting along Patriots Path/Vincent St. West/Goldenbridge Walk, as this will be the primary route for those used to traversing the large green space.

M035   Councillor Maire Devine

This Committee requests that a safe crossing be provided at the Rialto Primary Care Centre where dished footpaths on either side of the SCR are already in situ. There had been an Island at this point. This would greatly assist safety for pedestrians, especially those attending the Health Centre who may have difficulties with mobility, vision etc.

M036   Councillor Maire Devine

This Committee welcomes the recent published report by the respected medical journal "The Lancet" stating unequivocally that gambling poses a huge global threat to public health. We request that this report and this motion be forwarded to the Planning and Urban Regeneration SPC and to the newly established Gambling Regulatory Authority so that they are informed of this global threat when making pertinent decisions that fall within their  ...  view the full agenda text for item 7.
