Motion 2 from Councillor Dermot Lacey This Committee requests a report on what action has been taken on establishing the Task Force promised following the meeting with the Minister for the OPW in relation to the Flood Defence Works at Sandymount and to report in general on where we are at in relation to those works.
Order: Noted.
Motion 3 from Councillors Fiona Connelly, Claire Byrne, Danny Byrne, Mannix Flynn Could Parks Department provide a detailed report of the works that have been completed in Cabbage Patch over the last five years with costings and details on dates etc. Could parks also provide plans and costings to maintain and enhance the Cabbage Patch that over the next five year council term. This committee recognises the lack of progress to date and seeks to prioritise this park over the next council term. If maintained and developed well this park would be a welcome asset for local residents and schools in the area.
We as a committee recognise how important green spaces are in our city and therefore agree to prioritise The Cabbage Patch and ensure that all works that have been agreed are fulfilled to the highest standard.
Order: Agreed.

Questions to the Chief Executive 14.10.24 PDF 1 MB Additional documents: Minutes:
Q.1 Councillor Emma Blain To ask the manager to replace the bulbs in the
street lamps on Wellington Lane with brighter bulbs. Residents
have reported that recently installed bulbs are not providing
adequate luminosity and that they are causing safety concerns,
particularly with the onset of darker evenings.
Reply: The street lights on Wellington Lane were upgraded to LED street lights under our Public Lighting Upgrade Project last July and meet the required lighting standard for such a lane. The luminosity should therefore be fine.
Q.2 Councillor Emma Blain To ask the manager to undertake urgent repairs
on the footpath on Chelmsford Road, outside the new apartments
beside Ranelagh Dental. Trip hazards have been left in the
footpath, including a blue pipe and metal plate embedded in the
tarmacadam. At least one trip accident has already been reported at
this location. Reply: An inspection of the footpath on Chelmsford Road was carried out by RMS and an Irish Water temporary reinstatement has been identified. This reinstatement has been referred to Irish Water for permanent reinstatement as soon as possible.
Q.3 Councillor Eoin Hayes To ask the relevant managers if they will accept my thanks on behalf of the local community for the following successful works:
i. Resurfacing of Winton Ave, Oakfield Drive, and Kenilworth Park ii. Implementing the new seating on Kimmage Road Lower at the corner with Sundrive Road iii. Installing a new bin on Rathmines Road Lower at the corner with Frankfort Avenue iv. Engaging with the local community and designing the new bins plan for Rathgar Village
Reply: The Area Manager would like to acknowledge the thanks of the Councillor and the Community for the work undertaken. The Area Manager has passed on the good wishes of the Councillor and the Community to the relevant Sections and the Area office staff who were involved in a number of these initiatives
Q.4 Councillor Eoin Hayes To ask the manager the timeline and implementation plan for paid parking on Oxford Road. It was reported to me by a resident that they had submitted a unanimous petition and application and are still waiting for implementation for 18 months.
Reply: The residents of Oxford Road have been balloted, the closing date of which was the 20th September 2024. Those ballots will be counted and if there is a majority vote in favour to add permit parking to this road, the scheme will be referred back to the Traffic Advisory Group (TAG) for the statutory processes to be completed. If the scheme is voted in it goes back to the next TAG meeting, there is a consultation with the Gardaí and the STATs and Managers Order will need to be drawn up. Once this has all been done, the residents will be informed when the scheme will become active.
Q.5 Councillor Eoin Hayes To ask the manager the rationale for changing no-parking rules on Harold’s Cross Road’s bus lanes outside of Peggy Kelly’s pub, in particular on ... view the full minutes text for item 9. |
