Motions 11 November 2019

Motion 1 from Councillor Tara Deacy

The Discretionary Fund has served our communities very well over the last number of years. I ask that this committee support that the Discretionary Fund scheme stay within our local areas and continue to provide this important support to the community and voluntary services that provide incredible services to our constituents.  That we as a group lobby management of DCC and advocate on behalf of our constituents to ensure its continuation.

Motion 2 from Councillor Tara Deacy

That this committee agrees to support a motion to designate Kimmage village as a capital project, to enhance the area under the Public Realm Project.  The village area and its environs are badly in need of attention and have been neglected over the years.  Improvements are needed aesthetically, socially and from a community perspective and I ask all of my fellow councillors to support this.

Motion 3 from Councillor Mannix Flynn

That this committee of the South East Area calls on Dublin City Council to negotiate with Irish Water to take in charge the entire canal waterways system within the Dublin City Council administrative area.

Motion 4 from Councillor Mannix Flynn

The South East Area Committee calls on the board of Scouting Ireland to issue a full public apology to the many victims who were sexually abused as children in their scouting organisation.  This apology and accountability is long overdue and was promised some time back.  There can be no further delay on this acceptance of responsibility and apology for the wrongdoing that was done to children in their care.

Motion 5 from Councillor Deirdre Conroy

That this committee would agree to the lease for use as vegetable plot of City Council owned plot which is 8 metres wide by 16 metres deep, currently hoarded on street front, between two houses on Sundrive Road.  The enquirer has already obtained a gardening licence from the council and is planting on it but seeks a lease for security purposes and shares the plot with the neighbour for access to their rear garden.

Motion 6 from Councillor Tara Deacy

That this committee supports the speedy installation of the 30 parking spaces outside Lourdes Celtic Football club, Crumlin.  This has been an ongoing issue for some time, the residents of the Rutland Grove area are not only frustrated by the pace of this action but also worried about the dangerous nature of parking on match days and as a committee can we agree that this be prioritized as a matter of urgency.

Motion 7 from Councillor Danny Byrne

That this area committee writes to the Environmental Protection Agency asking them to establish a full time presence in the Ringsend area.  In terms of restoring public confidence in the different agencies this should be a step forward.

Motion 8 from Councillor Danny Byrne

That this area committee calls on Dublin City Council to revise its protocols in count centres to ensure the safety of count staff, security staff, Gardaí, and all those  ...  view the full agenda text for item 8.
