Terms of Reference

At the meeting of the City Council on Monday 2nd September the follwing motions was submitted by Councillor Chris Andrews and seconded by Councillor Seamas Mc Grattan:

That this City Council agrees that in all future Local, General and European Elections the number of posters advertising each candidate will be limited in numbers and only permitted in designated areas to a maximum of 5 designated areas in each constituency and each poster be bio-degradable and the Protocol Committee determine the details of this proposal.” 


With the agreement of Councillor Chris Andrews the Lord Mayor, Councillor Paul McAuliffe proposed the establishment of a Committee of the House under standing orders chaired by the Lord Mayor, Cllr, Paul Mc Auliffe, Deputy Chair Councillor Chris Andrews with Councillor Michael Pidgeon to assist and to report back to the November Council meeting.


It is on that basis that this committee meeting has been called to consider the issue of election postering.
