Minutes:

The following emergency motion to the Area Managers was tabled:

Emergency motion in the name of Councillor Cieran Perry and Councillor Séamas McGrattan

That this Area Committee calls for the immediate reinstatement of the Eviction Ban.

The disgraceful decision of the Green Party/Fianna Fail/Fine Gael Government to allow the eviction ban fall during a period of record homelessness and little availability of private rental accommodation must be rescinded. The same Government who have presided over a never-ending housing crisis are now punishing vulnerable families for Government failure. This cruel decision will force even more families into homelessness.

There are currently over 11,500 people suffering homelessness in Ireland and almost 3,500 of these are children.

ORDER:  Agreed.

Opposition noted by Councillors Darcy Lonergan, Ray McAdam and Eimer

                McCormack.

The following motions to the Area Managers were tabled.

Item 1

That this Central Area Committee congratulates Barry Keoghan on the achievement of winning the Best Supporting Actor Award at the BAFTA’s and the fact that this win will inspire young people of the inner city, to see someone like themselves succeed.  People of the inner city are so proud of Barry, and the fact that he never forgot where he came from.  We congratulate Barry and his family and request the Lord Mayor to acknowledge this great achievement.

ORDER:  Agreed.
