The following emergency motion to the Area Managers was tabled:

 

 

 

Emergency motion in the name of Councillor Declan Meenagh:

 

The Central Area Committee notes the urgent request made by NCBI to the local Area Office regarding bus stops and controlled pedestrian crossings and Tactile Walking Surface Indicators, all on Whitworth Road, and calls on all DCC Departments to work to rectify these issues as a matter of urgency.

 

ORDER:           Agreed.  Motion forwarded to the relevant departments for action and response.

 

 

The following motions to the Area Managers were tabled:

 

Item 1  

 

Motion in the name of Councillor Declan Meenagh

 

That this Central Area Committee

-          Notes that the Model Railway Society of Ireland is currently renting from Dublin City Council in a building which is to be re-developed

-          Believes that the work of the society is important, not only as a social activity but as an artistic, creative, scientific and historical activity

-          Commends the society on it’s work, particularly the recent re-creation of O’Connell street 100 years ago

-          Believes that creative communities like this society should be able to stay in the Central Area

-          Calls on the Area Manager to make arrangements to find the society a suitable premises to continue their work

 

ORDER:           Agreed.  Report to Councillor

 

Item 2

 

Motion in the name of Councillors Declan Meenagh and Joe Costello

 

That this Committee, in the interests of good planning and upholding the integrity of the City Development Plan in the minds of Citizens, agrees to write to the Minister for Housing and Local Government to withdraw the Specific Planning Policy Requirements provisions that enables Ministerial Guidelines to override such plans and lead to the probability of An Bord Pleanala continuing to ignore democratically agreed City and County Development Plans. That this Committee further agrees to circulate this Motion to all Councillors to encourage a

united approach on this issue.

 

ORDER:           Agreed. Letter to be sent to Minister for Housing and Local Government and Heritage.

 

Item 3

 

Motion in the name of Councillor Declan Meenagh

 

That this Committee notes the importance of Mount Bernard Park to families in the area and calls on additional lighting to be added to the playground area so families can use it in the winter.

Item 4

 

Motion in the name of Councillor Joe Costello

 

That this Central Area Committee calls on the Area Manager to draw up a plan for the Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA) adjacent to the Aughrim Street Sports Centre which is a fine facility but has been lying idle for years.

Item 5

 

Motion in the name of Councillor Joe Costello

 

That  this Central Area Committee calls on the Area Manager to liaise with the NTA with a view to surveying Dominick Street Upper and Lower so as to develop a Greening Strategy for the Street which is totally devoid of foliage at present.
