Public Participation Network and SPC Membership pdf icon PDF 521 KB

The Public Participation Network (PPN) in Dublin City consists of 724 organisations 467 are in the Community Pillar, 230 are in Social Inclusion Pillar and 27 are in the Environmental Pillar. Of those groups 238 groups are identified as having a Citywide remit the rest would have a local or neighbourhood remit.

·         After drawing up a draft Strategic Policy Scheme the PPN have to be consulted on the scheme before it is adopted and given specific time to consider the scheme and comment (30 days)

·         The PPN will be entitled to nominate one member per SPC however the SPC can look for a certain background (i.e. a Citywide group, travellers group, group dealing with disabilities) depending on the subject area of the SPC.  These members will be elected by the PPN.  Time to conduct these elections will need to be factored into the SPC process

·         The PPN may request additional representation on specific SPCs particularly those that cover environmental, social inclusion or community areas.

·         PPN representatives are representing their Linkage Group not their specific organisations and have to consult on agenda item.  They may require longer notice of agenda items to enable consultation prior to a meeting
