We, the undersigned members of Dublin City Council request you to hold a Special Meeting on November 11th 2024 for the purpose of discussing the Report published recently by An Taoiseach, Simon Harris T.D. of the Special Taskforce set up to examine Dublin City Centre.

 

The purpose of such a Special Meeting would be to enable the Chair of that Taskforce, Mr. David McRedmond to make a presentation to the City Council, provide an opportunity for the Chief Executive or his Senior Management Team to outline the Council’s contribution to the report and the 10 Big Moves contained therein and to allow members of Dublin City Council to discuss the report and put forward suggestions with regards the implementation of same.

The Lord Mayor invited David McRedmond, CEO, An Post and Chair of the Dublin City Task Force to present and speak to the recently published Dublin City Taskforce Report.

 

The Lord Mayor then invited speakers from all parties to contribute to the debate. Following a robust discussion on the report, the majority of councillors welcomed and supported the vision in this comprehensive report but stressed the importance and necessity for government funding in order to implement the ten “Big Moves” listed in this report to revitalise the city.

 

 

The Lord Mayor wished to thank David McRedmond for his work on the report and other members of the Taskforce for each bringing their own expertise and for preparing such a comprehensive report:
