2.

Report on Draft Anti Social Behaviour Strategy pdf icon PDF 471 KB

Order: Presentation given by Alice Simington and Mick Clarke from Dublin City Council ASB Unit Cllr Tom Brabazon was of the belief that the policy should be renamed. Cllr Ó’Muirí asked how many tenancy warnings were issued in 2020. Alice answered that there was 17 tenancy warnings served in 2020. Cllr Ó Muirí also asked if Dublin City Council have brought cases to court seeking possession orders.Alice replied that none had been applied for at this time. Cllr Micheál MacDonncha stated that he agreed with the naming of the policy and stated that he was in agreement that extra support and resources should be put in place.Lord Mayor Alison Gilliland stated that she would like the title to be called estate management as this would be seen in a more positive light. Alice stated that the naming of the strategy could be discussed at a later date.

The Lord Mayor also asked how we are connecting with our own tenants with the policy. Mick replied that DCC are encouraging area staff to engage with local groups. Mick confirmed statistics of 17 live tenancy warnings and 9 that have lapsed. He also confirmed about protection of anonymity for complainants. Cllr Heney agreed with the proposed naming of the policy.

Mick stated that there are two different levels of anti-social behaviour. These are nuisance behaviour and serious anti-social behaviour. Some situations are not as serious as others. He also stated that some cases are not in a city council estate but are a council tenant in a private estate. Cllr MacDonncha asked if there was or if there will be a policy document for approved housing body’s. Mick stated that housing bodies do their own strategy and policy.

Darndale Social & Economic Update

Minutes:

 

Order:  Dympna McCann spoke about the Darndale social and economic update. She stated that there were monthly meetings of the Implementation Oversight Group chaired by Jack Nolan (Independent Chair) and attended by senior staff from different agencies and departments. She stated that Darndale had been awarded an arts grant for three years and the grant for year one is 150,000 euro. She also stated that leaflets will go out soon to invite local residents to put their names forward for the local resident’s consultative forum.

Order: Inspector Patrick Gillick gave presentation on economic crime report on phone fraud, payment card fraud, online shopping fraud, money mules

 

Cllr O’Muiri asked if phone fraud was an international problem or just in Ireland

Inspector Gillick advised it’s international

Minutes:

 

Order: Discussion took place on knife crime in the North Central area and it was agreed by Chief Superintendent Curran that this is an issue but they are working and dealing with this issues.

Councillor Stocker asked how the Gardaí can reduce the speeding in the Elm-mount area?

 

Inspector Maguire advised that the Gardaí will engage with the public, use

checkpoints and work to try reduce the speeding in the area.

 

It was also noted the reduction in domestic violence
