Darndale Implementation Oversight Group PDF 195 KB See attached. Dympna Mc Cann Minutes: Councillor Mac Donncha raised concerns about the illegal dump in Belcamp and a piece missing in relation to contamination. Derek Kelly advised that there are 3 parts to this project 1) Where we are at now 2) Procurement alongside Part V111 after soil analysis etc was carried out 3) Looking at housing bodies etc. about possibility of provision of different types of housing etc. Councillor Gilliland wants to ensure all materials are analysed at this site. Derek Kelly stated this would definitely be carried out. She also thanked and congratulated Creative Places Darndale & Jack Nolan for doing all they do as there is a big change on the ground. |

CCTV Verbal Update. Derek Farrell Minutes: Derek Farrell advised the committee that a full inventory of all Darndale CCTV hardware is being done at present once this is completed it will be going out to tender for repair/maintenance of cameras that are down. Superintendent Barry advised that a few loopholes were found and clarification has been requested on this by An Garda Siochana and this will be discussed at a meeting this coming Thursday 20th Oct. Councillor Roe asked if there had been an update on the policy in relation to CCTV. Derek Farrell to follow up on this. |

Minutes: Derek Farrell advised the Darndale Community Representative Forum takes place on the 1st Wednesday every month and the Safety forum meetings are quarterly with the next one being on 7th December at 6pm. Councillor O’Toole stated is he very happy with these meetings. Kilmore meetings are due to start very soon. Councillor Gilliland is delighted to have these face to face safety forums meetings back up and running and asked what the attendance is like at them. Both managers advised that there has been good attendance and that a number of forums had changed their times at the request of residents. Councillor Mac Donncha asked if there had been any update from Irish Rail in relation to the station house, Bernie Roe has to follow this up and will get back to Councillor Mac Donncha. Councillor Brabazon raised concerns in relation to scramblers and if there was an alternative to stopping them. Superintendent Barry advised that hard to access them in the areas they are however while they are awaiting new legislation to be passed in relation to scramblers they do use the helicopter and would ask anyone with information on where scramblers are being stored to please notify An Garda Siochana. Councillor Cooney raised concern about playground in Fairview Park. |

Both Councillor Heney & O’Muiri thanked Superintendent Kennedy in relation to their work with the business’s in Clontarf & Collins Ave. It was suggested and agreed that a presentation be given at the next JPC meeting in January on Crime Prevention, Superintendent Barry will follow up with Stephen Kenny. Councillor raised concerns in relation to speeding on Collins Ave at the junction of Howth Road were Dublin City Council had put in pedestrian lights which don’t seem to matter to motorists. Councillor O’Toole thanked Superintendent Barry on the ground work which is being done in Darndale but advised that there is still a lot of activity continuing in the area. He was disappointed to hear that there will not be any extra Garda in the area and asked for certain bus routes in the area be shown more of a Garda presence. Superintendent Barry advised that Dublin Bus had been in contact in relation to issues with certain routes. He also advised that if anyone had any concerns to email him directly and not to wait for these meetings. Councillor Lyons was asked to contact Superintendent Barry after the meeting in relation to issues in the Bunratty Road area. Councillor Heney asked if domestic violence figures could be broken down in relation to children/parents as opposed to partner attacks, Superintendent Barry advised Councillor if she emails him he will certainly get these figures for her. Councillor T Flanagan thanks Superintendent Barry and his team for all their work in the area. Councillor Gilliland asked what the plans If any for the 16 days of action were and Superintendent Barry replied that there are currently a few ideas being toyed around with. Councillor Batten raised concerns in relation to timeline to respond to an incident in Ellenfield Park. |

Presentation on Juvenile Unit PDF 1 MB See attached Garda Fiona Savage Minutes: Sergeant Savage gave update on the role of this unit and advised they currently work with youth aged 12-18years however there are a few between the ages of 10-12years old, currently being discussed to increase the age limit to 22. Councillor Brabazon thanked her for her enthusiasm of this unit. Councillor Heney thanked her also and asked how best we could engage with young people who are 4/5 years old maybe as a pilot scheme in the future to get the message out there and keep them out of trouble before they reach a certain age by incorporating it in with Dublin City Council Sports Partnership and An Garda Siochana. |

Drug Intimidation Update PDF 5 MB See attached Inspector John Moroney Minutes: Inspector Moroney gave a brief presentation on Drug Intimidation. It was agreed that due to time constraints he would be invited back to the January meeting to discuss further. |

New Garda Station Update Chief Superintendent Mark Curran Minutes: Chief Superintendent Curran had given his apologies however Superintendent Barry advised committee that this issue is currently being discussed at Government Level and there is no update at present. |
