Actions agreed at October Meeting:- pdf icon PDF 31 KB

1.    Item 59 (i) on the Minutes of the October JPC Meeting was referred to the City Wide JPC in November. The Members of that Committee referred this back to the Area Office to be addressed locally. See details below.

Because of the  serious anti-social issues in Basin Street Councillor Criona Ni Dhalaigh queried the following: - “Clarity is required to identify/determine of which Local Policing Fora, Basin Street falls under ie. the Canals LPF or the South Inner City LPF.  South Inner City Drugs Task Force funds a lot of projects in Basin Street yet the Garda Station it actually reports to is Kilmainham which has the remit for the Canals Drugs Task Force. The Councillor requested that this issue be referred to the City Wide JPC for determination.

 

 

2.    At The October JPC Meeting the Members requested a meeting with Mr Kieran Mulvey, from the North East Inner City Ministerial Task Force. The members requested a meeting to be scheduled after Mr. Mulvey issues his report and recommendations to support regeneration in the North East Inner City area. See copy of the correspondence received from the Taoiseach’s Office attached.

 

Minutes:

Order: The Members determined that Basin Street will now fall under the

remit of the Canals Communities Local Policing Forum.                                                        

 

 

 

 

2.    At The October JPC Meeting the Members requested a meeting with Mr Kieran Mulvey, from the North East Inner City Ministerial Task Force. The members requested a meeting to be scheduled after Mr. Mulvey issues his report and recommendations to support regeneration in the North East Inner City area. See copy of the correspondence received from the Taoiseach’s Office attached.

Order: The Members agreed that a further letter be forwarded to the 

      Taoiseach’s Office requesting a meeting with Kieran Mulvey to

      commence as soon as possible now that he has presented proposals to

      rejuvenate the North Inner City.

This Area Committee strongly condemns the recent attack on building workers in Cherry Orchard and we urge the Gardaí and others to work with Cooperative Housing Ireland to ensure adequate protection is provided by Gardaí for the duration of the construction of the 72 social units of housing.

Minutes:

             A discussion followed on the above topics: -

·         A presentation was requested of the functioning and capabilities of the new CCTV cameras in Cherry Orchard.

·         Use of the back lanes and streets by horse drawn carriages.

·         Casual trading in Thomas Street and misuse of Meath Street for casual trading.

·         Begging in Meath Street and Thomas Street causing fear for older persons.

·         Garda numbers and increase in visibility of Garda patrols.

·         Request to remove the large gate at Molyneaux Yard.

 

Note:   As the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson were unavailable the meeting was

            chaired, by agreement, by Councillor Paul Hand.
