An internal focus group, consisting of personnel from Road Safety, Sustainable Mobility & Projects Infrastructure and Communication & Promotion and the Transport Advisory Group, has been established to explore options in creating safer routes to school.  The implementation of future measures is reliant on community buy-in for their success.  All options chosen for trial and/or implementation will include a strong engagement strategy to maximise support at local level.

The Sustainable Mobility & Projects Division will be engaging with local area committees in January and February 2020 to identify the key mobility issues in our communities and invite suggestions and ideas on potential solutions. This will be followed by workshops with the wider community. The outcome of this process will be a strategic citywide Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan with a complete suite of measures that will be implemented during the lifetime of the policy document.  It will include a comprehensive list of key performance indicators.

Reply:

Road Maintenance Services has made a provision for Seafield Road in our annual works program. It is our intention to begin at Seafield Road West at Castle Road and progress repairs towards Seafield Road East.

If there is insufficient funding to complete repairs on Seafield Road East, this will be considered for inclusion in our 2021 works program.

That the manager give a detailed report on the possibility of the provision of a dedicated running track in St. Anne’s Park.

That the manager give a detailed report on the possibility of the provision of a dedicated running track in St. Anne’s Park.

Reply:

This issue has been examined on a couple of occasions on foot of requests from a local athletics club.  The dedicated running track sought by the club is a very large facility at approximately 200X100m which unfortunately would not fit within the park without the removal of 2 to 3 football pitches and/or an historic treeline.  At present the existing football pitches in the park are over-subscribed by local clubs of all codes and there is no alternative location to accommodate the displaced football.  The athletics club further advised that the facility would have to be fenced off from the rest of the Park which would not be in keeping with the preservation of the historic Demesne Landscape.

Two water bottle filling stations have only been recently installed in St. Anne’s Park on a trial basis.  If this trial is successful it is fully intended in the future to roll out further bottle filling stations at other parks locations but this will very much depend on the availability of a metered and potable source of water.

Could area planters have pollinator planting rather then just bedding plants and could be have      wooden signage to explain.

Could area planters have pollinator planting rather then just bedding plants and could be have wooden signage to explain.

Reply:

The Public Domain Officer has arranged a meeting with PACE who supply and plant up the new planters that are supplied to residents groups around the North Central area.  The question to have pollinator plants placed in the new planters as they go to the Groups will be             raised at this meeting.

The planters that are currently around the North Central area are maintained and planted by the Groups as part of the agreement of receiving the planters in the first place. It would be up to the groups to place pollinator plants in the planters as they plant up and Public Domain would be happy to advise groups of this over any meetings we would have with them.

This would remove the need for any more signage on the planters.
