Motions received for March Meeting

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

18th March 2020

M.38    Councillor Hazel de Nortúin

That this Area Committee condemns the misinformation that was circulated by a candidate in the General Election regarding social housing. Dublin City Council is inclusive and respects all those on the housing list, irrespective of colour or nationality. All those on the DCC housing list are afforded the same opportunity and follow the same rules and regulations that apply to Social Housing.

M.39    Councillor Tina MacVeigh

This area committee agrees to initiate a review of the relevant section in our development plan that regulates permissible development on lands owned by sporting organisations or CB clubs. This is with the specific objective of protecting the limited amount of green space in the environs of the inner city.

M.40    Councillor Vincent Jackson

That Dublin City Council take another look at the ongoing car parking and local maintenance issues at Claddagh Green, Ballyfermot, Dublin10.  The area has a very successful retail base. However, whilst we looked for Double Yellow Lines outside the Claddagh Court Older Person’s complex at the dishings / entrance, the situation is now that DCC on Monday week last, put Double Yellow Lines on the whole area outside Claddagh Court. This will kill the commercial life as people, many elderly and from Cherry Orchard, travel to collect their pensions and get groceries in the shops. I am asking for a proper Maintenance Plan for the area including additional car-parking, road repairs to the broken concrete, cleansing on a regular basis. I would welcome an onsite meeting with residents and traders to discuss the ongoing issues.

M.41    Councillor Daithí Doolan

That this Area Committee calls on Dublin City Council, the Gardaí and Department of Justice to work in partnership and actively support the action plan agreed in the Building Resilience report.
