Emergency Motions Additional documents: Minutes: Emergency Motion No. 1 from Cllr Rebecca Moynihan & Cllr Michael Pidgeon This Area Committee asks that the addition of Player Wills to the record of protected structures is expedited as a matter of urgency. We ask that an independent conservation architect is immediately engaged to assess the internal of the building before any work takes place on the site.
This committee agrees, given the lack of playing pitches in the South West Inner City and the likely lengthy wait for completion of the sporting facilities at St. Teresa’s Gardens, that full consideration must be given to including a full-size pitch in the development at Marrowbone Lane along with housing and plans for a depot. Order: Agreed.
Emergency Motion No. 2 from Cllr Críona Ní Dhálaigh, Cllr Michael Pidgeon, Cllr Tina MacVeigh, Cllr Rebecca Moynihan and Cllr Michael Watters. This Area Committee asks for a detailed plan for the Marrowbone Lane depot with the projected footprint of the depot with details on the services which will be moved there. We also call on the Director of Services to carry out a feasibility study on the Marrowbone Lane site to include the depot, housing and a full playing sports pitch and that this be done as soon as possible. Order: Agreed without debate.

September 2019 Motions DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE 18th September 2019
8 Councillor Vincent Jackson That the Director of Services indicate what efforts was made to invite the new owners of the De La Salle Property, Ballyfermot, to a meeting of the local councillors to discuss the future plans for this site on Ballyfermot Road and the potential uses for the Old Monastery adjoining the School. It is essential for orderly development of this pivotal site that the elected members are involved to ensure local concerns are met and listened to.
9 Councillor Michael Pidgeon That this Area Committee requests the Director of Services write to the National Transport Authority and the Dublin Brewery & Distillery Tour (Selnec Ltd.), requesting:-
(a) a variation in the existing license to alter their tour buses' route away from smaller or congested streets (such as the Coombe and Meath Street) and that
(b) any future license for similar tours specifies routes with higher capacity, less residential roads.
10 Councillor Críona Ní Dhálaigh This Area Committee agree that the Director of Sercices put in place an immediate action plan to address the serious anti-social behaviour in St. Catherine’s Park. A lot of money has recently been invested in the park by DCC and it looks lovely. This park cannot be used or enjoyed by locals or even tourists as it has been taken over by street drinkers and drug users.
11 Councillor Daithí Doolan Dublin South Central Area Committee members commend and support the establishment of HOME. A community based response involving residents, Dublin City Council, local services and businesses. The City Council will continue to actively support HOME in promoting suicide prevention and awareness in Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard.
12 Councillor Vincent Jackson That the Director of Services please have the Drumfinn Road area of Ballyfermot de-weeded. All of the kerbs have serious levels of grass/weeds growing from them. In addition, that offensive graffiti be removed from the small plinth wall at Rosaveal Court, Drumfinn Road. Hundreds of School Children from St. Louise’s de Marillac School and Caritas College pass this location on a daily basis.
13 Councillor Michael Pidgeon That this Area Committee requests the Director of Services write to the Office of Public Works to request parking enforcement in the War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge, where grassy areas and spaces for pedestrians are consistently blocked by parked cars.
