DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

19th February 2025

M051   Councillor Ciarán Ó’Meachair

This Area Committee requests a full audit be conducted of windows and doors of units in Dolphin House which need to be replaced.

M052   Councillor Ciarán Ó’Meachair

This Area Committee requests that the long planned and urgently needed public realm works to improve the quality, appearance and safety of Dolphin’s Barn Village be prioritised for the forthcoming schedule of works. Dolphin’s Barn Village has suffered from dereliction and neglect for several decades and should be considered a high priority for public realm improvement.

M053   Councillor Ciarán Ó’Meachair

This Area Committee calls for the urgent refurbishment of the Donore Community Centre. This project has suffered from countless delays and setbacks. This Area Committee requests that a timeline indicating the resumption and completion of the project be outlined. Furthermore, this area committee calls for Dublin City Council will engage with key stakeholders to agree upon the opening hours of the centre upon reopening.

M054   Councillor Ciarán Ó’Meachair

This Area Committee recognises the continued actions of solidarity with the Palestinian people from our local community. In particular, this Area Committee highlights thePalestine Solidarity mural on Malpas Street at Peadar Browns pub and supports its retention.

M055   Councillor Michael Pidgeon & Cllr Ray Cunningham

This Area Committee request that Dublin City Council clear and clean the path along the Liffey from War Memorial Gardens to Chapelizod, which has become overgrown in parts.

M056   Councillor Ray Cunningham

This Committee asks that Dublin City Council resurface Tyrconnell Road in Inchicore. The current surface is particularly dangerous for cyclists, who already have to deal with heavy traffic and a lack of segregation.

M057   Councillor Ray Cunningham

This Committee will contact the National Transport Authority and ask it to reopen the Safe Routes to School programme for new applicants or, failing that, add St. Cillians National School in Bluebell, and St Patricks National School in Chapelizod to their existing list. The pupils of both schools are faced with extremely dangerous traffic situations, and are receiving no help from the NTA because they were not added to a list compiled in 2021. There have been close calls at both schools. The NTA shouldn’t wait for a more serious incident, or an arbitrary deadline, before acting.

M058   Councillor Ray Cunningham

This Committee welcomes the new planting on the green on Balfe Road East, and the plans to add more in the coming winter. We ask the Parks department to add similar new planting on the following greens in the next planting season:

  1. Dowland Road (three locations)
  2. Moeran Road (two locations, either side of O’Brien Road)
  3. Percy French Road (behind library)
  4. Thomas Moore Road
  5. Stanford Green
  6. Field Avenue green
  7. St Mary’s Park
  8. The green behind St Mary’s Park and St Mary’s Drive
  9. Walkinstown Avenue
  10. Walkinstown Crescent
  11. Walkinstown Green (outside the Green Kitchen and Tony Kealy’s)
In all cases, the planting should be around the edges and in corners, where possible, to leave space for children  ...  view the full agenda text for item 8.
