December 2024 Motions DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE 11th December 2024
M041 Councillor Ray Cunningham That this Committee notes that the laneway between Walkinstown Park and Walkinstown Crescent is a constant black spot for dumping, with bags of rubbish regularly left in the flower beds at the side. We ask that the lane be taken in hand, with measures taken to improve the appearance of the lane and discourage dumping.
M042 Councillor Ray Cunningham That this Committee congratulates the Council on the Christmas tree lighting ceremonies that have taken place across the South Central Area. They are great community events, bringing people together to celebrate the season. We note that there is no Christmas tree in the Drimnagh area, and ask that a tree be provided at a suitable location for Christmas 2025 and following years.
M043 Councillor Vincent Jackson Over 20 years ago Ballyfermot was supposed to be the next big Dublin community to be provided with a new Luas Line which was to travel from College Green out to the west of the city travelling through Inchicore, Bluebell , Ballyfermot, Liffey Valley onwards towards Lucan Village. I regret the project was shelved and I believe is still on the NTA agenda. I am asking for the NTA to be invited into a future meeting to update the elected members on where this project is at and how we can campaign and ensure this happens. If I remember it was the Yellow Line.
M044 Councillor Vincent Jackson That Dublin City Council seeks to provide a Community Centre infrastructure enhancement fund for the Dublin City Council Area to allow the enhancement / upgrade of current facilities which are in need of improvements. I have seen many non DCC operated buildings run by community groups struggling to keep the doors open with utility charges, public liability insurance, upgrading of facilities to enable them avail of green grants to ensure sustainability in meeting Irelands green targets.
