September 2024 Motions DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE 18th September 2024
M006 Councillor Máire Devine (Deferred from July 2024 meeting) This Committee expresses strong dissatisfaction with the “RobinsonsGate” saga that is way past its due date. We insist that this essential protective measure for our vulnerable senior citizens be addressed and prioritised now.
M013 Councillor Hazel de Nortúin This Area Committee agrees to support the local Housing team and DCC tenants by requesting the CEO of DCC, allocate funding in the budget for 2025, for an organisation outside of DCC that had the expertise and scope to assist the Housing Department with tenants who need additional supports, in addition to housing supports. We've seen an increase in the needs of DCC tenants from a variety of reasons; some that go outside the remit of the local housing team but affect the tenant and surrounding residents. We need to find a way to support residents in addressing their needs.
M014 Councillor Jen Cummins This Area Committee agrees that the delays in the reopening of Donore Community Centre are unacceptable. It agrees that every effort must be made to ensure that the process is not delayed any further than it already is. It agrees that there will be appropriate liaising with Councillors and relevant community bodies to ensure that thecommunity is kept up to speed with progress
M015 Councillor Jen Cummins This Area Committee condemns the brutal scene of animal cruelty in Dublin 8 recently. This Committee will ensure that byelaws for animal welfare are enforced and reported on regularly to this committee.
M016 Councillor Vincent Jackson That in view of the disgraceful behaviour of Ticketmaster / Live Nation in the selling of concert tickets for ColdPlay, Oasis etc that this committee calls upon the competition authority to fully review the practice of jacking up prices with their in-demand TICKET pricing structure and if the promoters make additional profits over the original face value of the tickets this profit be ring-fenced for charities like Irish Cancer Society, St Vincent de Paul, Community Foundation of Ireland. It would make sense to allow physical outlets sell tickets this would allow some certainty that the process was fair and transparent also limiting the purchase to 2 tickets would reduce the practice of re-sale of tickets. Dublin City Council licences these events hence we have some opportunity to address the monopoly situation Ticketmaster / Live Nation have.
M017 Councillor Vincent Jackson That Dublin City Council please look at developing a proper management plan for the Le Fanu Road Area of Ballyfermot outside of St Setons Secondary School. The current situation is intolerable for school authorities with parallel parking right up to the gates of this very busy school. Busses now use Le Fanu Road and Bus Connects will, if implemented alter traffic flows resulting in substantial increases in traffic movement. Can I ask that our Road Engineers draw up a plan to address safety concerns with Double ... view the full agenda text for item 9. Additional documents: |
