July 2021 Motions

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

21st July 2021

M115   Councillor Hazel de Nortúin

This Area Committee stands in support with those who attended BARNs pride rally in Ballyfermot. Ballyfermot is and will continue to be an inclusive place to all who live here.

M116   Councillor Tina MacVeigh

That an independent building conditions survey of the Oliver Bond flat complex will be conducted by an independent relevantly qualified building design professional as a matter of urgency.

M117   Councillor Darragh Morriarty and Councillor Máire Devine

That this Area Committee welcomes the launch of the ‘We’re Sick of Waiting Campaign’ by residents of Oliver Bond calling for the urgent fixing of persistent damp and mould issues across the Dublin City Council flat complex and would like to extend an invitation to the campaign group, including representatives from Oliver Bond Resident’s Group, Austin Campbell from Robert Emmet CDP and Joseph Little from TU Dublin, to present to September 2021’s Area Committee Meeting.

M118   Councillor Sophie Nicoullaud

That DCC meets Chapelizod residents to deal with the dangerous, persistent and increasing traffic situation in Chapelizod. That DCC invites the OPW and the NTA to be present to the meeting with DCC to address the situation in a coherent manner. That DCC organises a much needed presentation for Chapelizod residents detailing future traffic improvements and plans in the near, medium and long term. The village is going through a lot of major changes: Phoenix Park plans, Springvale with 71 units, Bus Connects and other housing constructions. That this presentation takes into consideration all future plans and that all plans be put into one to show a comprehensive, explanatory and clear view of what the village traffic will look like under all the projects put together.

M119   Councillor Vincent Jackson

That Dublin City Council please request Eircom to remove the totally dilapidated old public phone boxes from outside Staffords Funeral Home Upper Ballyfermot Road and the other set on Ballyfermot Road opposite Boyle Sports / Tasty Treats Bakery. These phone boxes are total nonsense for the local community.  They have not worked for over 10 years and are a total eyesore.

M120   Councillor Vincent Jackson

That DCC Parks Department PLEASE look at developing a proper management and maintenance plan for the Lawns Park, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10. To look at acknowledging the fact the origins of Ballyfermot developed here with Ballyfermot Castle, the old Church and graveyard. In the late 1990`s we had an major report done on the origins of Ballyfermot and we had agreed that when resources became available we would acknowledge the graveyard with a Celtic Cross and the footprint of the old castle with a boxed hedging information panels etc. Has DCC a copy of the report as I have misplaced my own copy.

M121   Councillor Vincent Jackson

That before any further large scale housing developments are proposed / advanced in the Cherry Orchard Area that services such as supermarket / retail, cultural and leisure facilities are progressed. I regret that many  ...  view the full agenda text for item 12.
