M97      Councillor Michael Pidgeon

To ask the Director of Services to see that Dublin City Council will devise a traffic calming plan for Islandbridge. The area is seeing huge footfall due to the nearby parks, and the new residential build has made it more into a village in its own right. The stretch of road is treated as an arterial route, with limited opportunities to cross the road. Greater provision for pedestrians and cyclists is needed.

Following on from the report: Rapid Assessment and Community Response to suicide and suspected suicide in Dublin South - commissioned after the rise in suicides in the Ballyfermot area, one of the further research pieces was around the connection between suicide in young women and domestic violence.  Since then we've entered into a pandemic and we've seen a clear increase in domestic violence as one of the underlying conditions of the restriction of movement. Ballyfermot/Cherry Orchard doesn't have its own dedicated Domestic Violence worker and relies on the services in other areas.

I'm asking that Dublin City Council, with support of the members, write to the Tusla DSGBV and support the call for a Domestic Violence Worker dedicated to the Dublin 10 area - for reasons outlined. Also that Dublin City Council provides a space within their properties in Ballyfermot and Cherry Orchard to ensure ease of access to this much needed service.

That all the Councillors for the South Central Area are asking that the Parks Dept. look at Grattan Crescent Park, Inchicore as a matter of urgency to look at addressing the following issues, following on from a petition signed by 230 local people.  The Park has seen a major increase of anti-social behaviour with syringes being found, rough sleeping in the park, ongoing alcohol consumption.  The park needs serious attention and it needs to be cleaned on a regular basis, signs need replacing where necessary, play equipment needs to be checked regularly to ensure it is safe, a bin is needed in the actual playground area to deter littering, out of control cow parsley weeds and buddleia next to the River Camac is out of control and needs to be cut back.   Residents are looking for an online community consultation process to be done as a way of influencing future upgrades in the park and ensure sustainability.

This Area Committee agrees to name the community garden in the newly developed public park at Bridgefoot Street 'The Richie Taplin Community Garden’.

M101    Councillor Máire Devine

That this Area Committee seek to ensure meaningful consultation with residents when requesting a residential parking scheme vis a vis the layout marking plans. That these plans be mutually agreed upon and tweaked when necessary. This is an essential stage of public consultation yet for areas like Clarence Mangan Road this has been repeatedly denied for several months.
