December 2020 Motions

DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL

SOUTH CENTRAL AREA COMMITTEE

09th December 2020

M.73     Councillor Michael Watters

That Dublin City Council agree to install bollards at the West Terrace end of the laneway that runs behind Inchicore Terrace South, Dublin 8, there are many young families in the area who travel along this laneway on foot and bicycle, the laneway is used as a cut-through by cars, it is just wide enough to fit one car, if a car is travelling along this laneway there is no space for pedestrians or cyclists, this makes it very dangerous, there is no need for this laneway to be open to cars as there is another route available, in the interest of safety bollards should be installed at this location.

M.74     Councillors Maire Devine,Tina MacVeigh & Michael Pidgeon

That this Area Committee agree that the Director of Services draws up a schedule of improvement works, such as those referenced in the Dolphin’s Barn Public Realm Improvement Plan that could be enacted in the short term while the area awaits the future proposed infrastructure works by the NTA/Busconnects.

M.75    Councillor Tina MacVeigh

This Area Committee agrees to ask our Housing Manager to consider a scheme of allocations that will give people local to the new local authority housing scheme on Bonham street who are on the housing list and who are living in chronically overcrowded conditions priority allocation for 50% of the new units.

M.76     Councillor Michael Watters

That Dublin City Council agree to repair the road surface on the stretch of South Circular Road between Brookfield Road and Mayfield Road, Dublin 8, this road has been damaged by heavy vehicles accessing the National Childrens Hospital site, there are many potholes on this stretch of road and residents have reported that it has become very dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists alike.

M.77     Councillors Maire Devine & Daithi Doolan

“In noting the very negative effect 'co-living' has had on provision of housing in the South West Inner City, this area committee welcomes the belated decision by the Minister for Housing to amend the Mandatory Planning Guidelines with regard to Co-Living.

This Area Committee demands that the Minister gives clarity and outright bans 'co-living', anything less will only allow developers to once again exploit this situation."

M.78     Councillors Tina MacVeigh, Michael Pidgeon, Michael Watters, Maire Devine & Darragh Moriarty

This Area Committee agrees that the council owned site at the corner of Dolphins Barn and South Circular Road be developed as a pilot site for public housing through the public housing working group of the Housing SPC.
